[Third Person POV]

Eventually, Max was forced to move on, although he couldn't help but think of Charlotte every day. Honestly, he missed her ever since she left.

Charlotte felt the same way. Although Venkalth quickly accepted her into his kingdom and had her train for what she should expect. However, she felt homesick every day and she especially felt horrible for leaving Max. Her training was more intense and she was sent on more dangerous missions. Luckily, so far, she has never had to kill anyone from Palia.

Charlotte had just been thrown to the ground by her trainer with cuts and bruises all over her. Just as her trainer walked up to her to continue their sparring, Venkalth came in. "Sorry to interrupt your... Sparring... But I have another mission for you, Charlotte." He said, and she silently hissed in pain as she got up. I'll just go to a Healer later. Charlotte thought as she walked with him to hear the information about her next mission.

"Your next mission will be simple: Go to Palia and either kill a Warrior there bring one here!" He said with joy in his voice. She was shocked. She would have been fine with gathering information from Palia, but killing people from the Kingdom she grew up in...? She couldn't do it, and she wouldn't. "I'm sorry, sir, but I don't think I can do that..." She said hesitantly. He looked at her with a questioning look before giving a small smirk. "Come on, Charlotte. Do you still miss your Maxie-Waxie? How cute" He teased before laughing. Charlotte growled slightly, annoyed and slightly embarrassed. Venkalth turned serious before saying "Charlotte, I need you to do this. I understand Palia is where you've lived most of your life, but you're not loyal to their King anymore.." He took a moment to think before saying "If you complete this mission for me, I'll make you a Guardian! How does that sound?" He said, hoping this would help persuade her.

She refused.

Venkalth grew annoyed and kept trying to persuade her, but it was to no avail. Finally, he had enough. "Come on, Charlotte! The only reason you're hesitating in killing Palian Guardians is that you used to be with them! If you'd just forget about those useless people, you'd be able to..." His words drifted off as he started thinking. An idea came into his mind about how to fix this.

With an evil smile, he said "Hold that mission for later. There's something I'd like to do with you first so you'll be able to do your duty properly!" Before Charlotte could react, she was held in place as she was forced to face him with a look of terror in her face. "Now, this will only take a moment.." He said. Before she knew it, she was unconscious.

He let out a small chuckle before picking her up and placing her in an empty bedroom as a Healer made sure she'd be alright before leaving the room. He anxiously waited outside for her to wake up to see if what he had done worked on her.

[Charlotte's POV]

I woke up and noticed I was in an unfamiliar place.

Where am I..?

I tried thinking about what might have happened that I got here, but I couldn't remember anything.

I couldn't even remember my own name.

Before I could start going deep into thought, someone entered the room. "You're awake! I was beginning to worry that you wouldn't!" He said to me. With the way they said it to me and acted around me, it seemed like they knew me. I decided to ask him what happened and why I couldn't remember anything. From what they told me, I started to piece together who I was: My name is Irene- which sounded right, but felt a bit awkward. I am a Warrior in the Kingdom of Beton, training to become a Guardian. I had grown up here and I belonged here. The reason he knew me was because they are one of my trainers and- more importantly- the King of Beton. They introduced themselves as Venkalth Hunt.
