[Third Person POV]
Some time had passed since the sparring incident, and at the moment, they were sitting next to each other in an awkward silence. They both had so many things to say to one another, but they had no idea where to start. Eventually Max spoke up to ask her a few questions about how things felt familiar and what she knew. "This is strange, but... About a week or so ago, I lost any memories about anything before then. I've had different flashes of... Memories, maybe?.... But I've always seen this girl in them with you. She seemed so familiar but I really don't know who she was or how she was like, but from what I've seen, it looks like she was really close to you." She paused for a moment before she said, "I saw an image at one point... It must have been before she left, but she looked... So sad as she was looking at her old Kingdom... I'm sure that there must have been a good reason for her to leave, but I'm sure she really misses you as much as you miss her."After a quick moment of silence, Max said, "You said the name Charlotte was familiar to you, correct..? The girl you talked about, that must have been her you were seeing. And the thing is- but I might be wrong- I think you're Charlotte. The way you fight, the way you've acted, the way you look... It concerns me that you... Don't really remember much of anything either than what you've seen and have been told most likely..." Irene was surprised for a moment as she said, "I... I don't get it.. Venkalth- the King- helped me when I first woke up! He told me my duties, where this is, my name, everything that seemed right, but... now I don't even know what to think anymore..." She stopped to think for a moment before she opened up his cell and grabbed his hand. She soon asked, "How well are you with someone teleporting you?" He answered that he was alright with it, and soon enough she teleported them both out of the Kingdom for a while.
After a moment to recover from the teleport, she let out a small sigh before saying, "I really don't know what I can do myself to remember anything, and by now I'm sure you saw my face so there's no use wearing my mask around you. I... I trust you." Soon enough, she took off her mask and looked at Max. "If you really believe I'm 'Charlotte' and that what I know from where I'm supposed to be is wrong... is there something you think that we would both know that could help me remember?"
[Max's POV]
When she took off her mask, I could tell for sure it was Charlotte I was seeing. I had only seen a glimpse before, so I couldn't be entirely sure, but now I knew it was her without a doubt.
My mind raced through the different possibilities of what could have happened while she was gone and what I could really do to help her.
Soon, the words from her letter came into my mind:
If you came across me and I seemed to lose myself and what I (or we) used to be, would you help me find myself again..?
I soon realized that I could try singing our song and see if she could catch on. We would sing it together close to every single day- or every other day- with each other when we had the spare time to. Even to help each other calm down, we would sing it. I started humming the into melody and soon enough I started singing the lyrics we made. She started to catch on to certain parts after a while, and I could tell that soon enough, things were coming back to her until she had a look of realization on her face. Before I knew it, she was singing her parts of the song as I did mine.
Charlotte had finally been found.
[Charlotte's POV]
When we were finished, I sunk into his warm, welcoming embrace as I burst into tears. He held me close and comforted me, seeming relieved and thankful. After a while, I blurted out, "I'm so sorry for leaving you, Max! I just felt like I didn't belong in Palia and at first, they welcomed me in Beton, but Venkalth wanted me to kill a Palian Guardian and-" Max gently shushed me and held me even closer to him, saying that he understood and forgave me. Eventually, we both calmed each other down and soon started discussing what we should do now.
Our plan was to fool Venkalth into thinking we were still loyal and take him down.
With this, we can work to end the wars between the Kingdoms and restore the peace the Kingdoms once knew.
