Chapter 7.
We arrived at the restaurant within no time, I had sat in the back with Susie and Melissa, we had been whispering about the two handsome men in the front and who we thought that they liked.
Melissa started us off with Peter, it was clearly obvious she had the hits for him and wanted him to recognise her, but she complained about how he doesn't. I must admit, Peter couldn't keep his eyes off either off the twins. My go was next...
"Darren totally likes you" I looked at their stunned faces and progressed onto why I felt this. "Have you seen the way he looks at you? And I mean all that cushy stuff at lunch? Something majors going on here" Melissa turned bright red, just as we pulled into the restaurants car park.
Darren opened the door for us and helped us out the car. As I slid out his hand stayed on mine until I smiled at him, which was when he let go. Melissa noticed this; I could tell Darren was her sweet but touchy spot. I must be careful with this one I feel.
We walked into the beautiful restaurant, the ceiling was high and golden with the light from the three enormous chandeliers that hung in a row, all the chairs and tables were White and gold and the Walls had splashes of oak brown on them. I was shocked by this magnificent place, how could we ever afford thus place? And with people I only met today? I felt a twang as I realised that my, mother, was at home with a stranger she used and would throw away like garbage. I started to feel angry again and felt my fist ball up and my knuckles threaten to tear through my tanned skin. I suddenly felt an electric shock rush through my fist and up my arm, my head shot in the direction it came from, there he was, the mist beautiful man in the world, Darren had his hand gently on mine and had concern in his eyes.
"Are you okay Kat?" I snapped out of my trance and looked at Darren bewildered; it took me a moment to recognise who he was.
"Oh, yes. Yes I'm fine, sorry I was, yeah" I nervously giggled and looked down at my high heeled feet.
"I think we're being taken to our table now, let’s go" He took hold of my hand and led me to the table where the waiter dressed in a black and gold tux was leading our party.
When we got to our table, Darren pulled my chair back and pushed it in as I sat down, he was such a gentlemen. The waiter gave us each a food and drinks menu and we all started to read.
"Oh it all sounds so wonderful" I looked up at Susie as her wide excited eyes scanned the menu. "Right, I've decided! Hurry up I want to eat!" we all laughed and got some weird looks. Darren subtly called the waiter over and he took our orders. It took us while to sort everything out, but once we had, we settled into our starters and our evening. We all chatted away casually, like we had been friends for years.
I looked around my new group if friends, feeling lucky that I hadn't been cast out again, I felt a surge of love within me and I had to tell everyone how I felt.
"Thank you! Thank you everyone for accepting me into your friendship group, you will never know what it means have people that want to be my friend. I’m sorry about my mum; she’s never been like that, not ever! My dad’s nothing like her and neither am I! Thank you all, really you have made me feel welcome." with my speech of epic soppy-ness over. I looked at my plate and ate silently. I peered at Melissa across the table from under my long blackened lashes and saw here and Susie and Peter staring at me.
"Wow, jee Kathy. It's really nothing, you're a lovely girl and I’m happy to be friends with you!" Melissa reached over the table a d squeezed my hand.
"Yeah, if it weren't for Mel introducing you I think that it wouldn't be us five sitting around this table right now!" Susie was looking from my face to Mel's, when she nodded, Susie smiled widely. Peter was too concerned with his food to mention anything, but instead he just nodded and grunted in agreement. I giggled, I hadn't known Peter long at all, but felt confident that we would become very close friends.
