Chapter 2.
I followed Melissa out of the warm office into the chilly corridor. I suppose the corridor was what you would normally expect to find in a school, boring colours, rows of lockers, but this place was different. The Walls were a clean cappuccino colour- no graffiti scattered about, looked like they were freshly painted- the ceiling was White and the border that ran right the way down the Walls was an orange colour that made everything feel relaxing. The floors were beautiful wood, worn away by the numerous amounts of people that walk on them everyday- but I noted again that there was no litter or graffiti! Melissa walked me to a row of lockers near a classroom with 'Bascal Form' written on a bronze plaque.
"Here's your locker, mines three down from yours and that's our form common room, it's a lively group of people, mainly all dancers. Oh, just wait till you meet Mr Latchman! He's a history teacher but takes our form. Did your time table say you had chosen history?" the emotions that ran across her face in that one sentence were unbelievable. She was serious and comforting one minute, to excited and rather flirty looking the next. I was definitely going to have to keep tabs on this girl.
"Umm... Yeah I do, I've got it last lesson. But it says I've got dance and one English lesson till then" I trailed off thinking about how much easier life was back in Green Mark High.
"No worries, you can watch my class, oh I mean our class now if you would like?" she emphasised the word 'Our' in a way that made me feel welcome; she smiled sweetly at me and showed me how to use the lock on my locker.
Once we had both stowed our unnecessary items in our perspective lockers, we walked to our form room and took the first two available seats, just as Mr Latchman walked in. She was right, he, was, gorgeous!
"Good morning Guys!" I was in love already. How can anyone be so chilled out and make a class of boys and girls fall completely silent just by speaking?
"After I've taken the register you can have your morning chats as usual" he looked around the room of besotted teenage girls with his rich brown eyes, his hair blonde and shaggy, it was long too, occasionally he would push back bits of hair that fell onto his face. How could anyone not resist him?!
He took the register and eyed me and Melissa before walking over to us.
"Hello you must be our new student?" he smiled politely at me, his brown eyes sparkling at us.
"Yes, my name is Kathy or Kat as most people call me" I returned the smile and blushed.
"I presume Melissa is taking you around today?" he peered at Melissa expecting her answer.
"Yes sir, I've been briefed about what her time table is today" Melissa spoke as if I was at a business, not a school.
"Very good. Class dismissed!" he bellowed loudly over the top of the babbling students, the chair was suddenly filled with the harsh scrape of the chair legs on the wooden floor as the students filtered out he room. Melissa grabbed my arm and took me to watch my first dance class.

I waited outside the changing rooms as Melissa went and changed into her tutu and freshen up, I watched as large groups of people moved double basses, cello's, drum kits and harps on rolling platforms from one room to another. I heard a shout and the people hurried back to help move another instrument.
"Careful! The slightest knock will ruin the tuning! Sally over your side a little, perfect; now ease it on through, gently gently..." I saw the most wondrously bizarre sight ever, the most beautiful grand piano was being moved by six or seven people, the leader of this group was the boy I'd seen at reception earlier, Darren, I think his name was. He was politely commanding his workers on the best angles to move the piano and they all fluttered at his commands, not a single one didn't do what he had asked. I suddenly found myself staring at this boy, taking in all his features and storing them in my mind.
