Lucy sighed as she stepped foot into the hotel lobby. Derek Morgan nudged her from behind. She looked up to him as he removed his sunglasses from his nose.
"Hey," he began. Lucy blinked. "Do you wanna switch rooms with me?" He questioned by. Lucy watched as he held out his plastic room key card to her for her to take. She thought for a moment, but before she could manage an I don't know, Derek continued. "I just really don't want to room with Ried."
The rain was now coming down harder than it had been before, now slapping the pavement with a force unlike another. The wind had picked up as well. It was just the way Lucy had always remembered April's in New York. Lightening had splintered across the sky and thunder had crashed as she stepped into one of the FBI's cars with Derek Morgan, Aaron Hotchner, and Emily Prentiss to transport them to the hotel in the first place. Lucy spent the entire car ride wrapped up in her now soaking wet jacket. Derek Morgan had let the heat blast to warm her up, noticing the way she was seating in the seat next to him.
Lucy remembered this now as she looked up at the older man in front of her. She sighed.
"I don't know..." Derek frowned. "Who am I supposed to be rooming with?" She asked. Lucy placed her bag down onto the ground, the handle had become slippery from the rain and her sweaty palms. She leaned the bag against her leg.
But Derek shook his head. He told her he wasn't sure before promising that Spencer was like a big, harmless teddy bear and finally Lucy gave in, just wanting to be able to sleep already. Derek handed the woman his key card and Lucy handed Derek hers.
She took the stairs up to the second floor. Having a weird fear of elevators her whole life, she was thankful that the agency had managed to snag rooms on the second floor. She was too tired to walk up to any more than one single flight of stairs.
Lucy tossed her neck-length bob out of her face once she reached the room door. She placed her bag down yet again, leaning it against her leg, and searched her pockets for Derek's card. Once she finally found it, Lucy swiped it, lifted up her bag, and opened the door.
"Hey."
Lucy stumbled into the room. She shut the door.
"Hey."
"I figured Derek would make you switch with him," Spencer stood up from his chair and looked to Lucy as he did so. She noticed he was reading. Something in Russian. She tried to strain and peek at the book cover, but her damp hair had found its way back into her eyes. She shook it away.
"I wasn't going to," Lucy confessed. "But he left the heat on for me the whole car ride over here. I don't know." Lucy took off her jacket and hung it on a hook next to the door, then stretched her back, finally. She felt as though she had been on her feet all day. The stretch felt so good. Spencer smiled as she did so.
