Cynthia  sat by Ali's bed and watched as she trashed about.  This was new Cynthia  thought.  She  thought  that  Ali was either having a bad dream or she was in pain.  Cynthia rang the buzzer again for the nurse.  She didn't care if they were tired of her calling for them.  The nurse walked in, her face showing her annoyance.

"What is it now?" The nurse asked.

"She been trashing about like that for sometime; is she in pain?" Cynthia asked.

The nurse  checked Ali's heart rate and blood pressure on the monitor and she also checked the baby's heart rate.  Then she dialed a number to page the doctor.  The doctor called right back.

"Dr. Wright  could you please come up to 516?  I think your  patient might be  waking up," the nurse said.  Cynthia did not hear what was said on the other end.  Her eyes overflowed with tears.   She could not explain the joy she felt that Ali was finally waking up. She watched her son all these months as he tenderly tend to Ali.  It was obvious that Ali  meant the world to him.

"Dr. Wright will be right up," the nurse informed Cynthia.

Just then Jake walked in.  "Hi Mom, what's going  on?" he asked with concern in his voice.

"I don't know, the nurse thinks Ali might be coming out of the coma; I thought she might be in pain," Cynthia said and wiping her eyes.

"You think she is going into labor?" Jake asked.  That made him nervous.

"I don't know; that crazy  doctor is coming up to check on her," Cynthia said.

"Mom, I know that you don't care for him but he has been great for Ali; you cant go around referring to him as that crazy doctor," Jake said.

"I know; but there is just something about him that just creep me out and the way he talks, he seems so ancient; he just doesn't behave like a young man and that name; have you ever heard of anyone with that name...Alexire?" Cynthia said.

"Cant say I have," Jake replied.

"How did the case go this morning?" Cynthia asked.

"Well once again the judge ruled in my favor;  as Ali's husband, I get the final say in Ali's care and not her parents; you were right about them Mom; Ali is their only child; you think they would want to do everything to see her well but all they care about is  money.  I still cant believe  that they asked Dr. Wright to take Ali off life  support  then try to justify their request  by saying that even if Ali survived she would be a vegetable and  would never want to live like that.  How could they just write her  off  even when the doctors had hope?" Jake vented to his mother.

"They told the judge  that I am keeping Ali alive just so she can give birth to the baby so I can have access to Ali's money.

"What do they mean?  how would Ali  having the baby give you access to her money?" Cynthia asked.

"Her  money passes on to her children, not to me.  I am just praying that she wakes up and  is ok...she and the baby," Jake said.

Jake held Ali's hand and he could feel Ali squeeze his hand.  "Mom she squeeze my hand," Jake said all excited.

"Well you been saying that for awhile now and she just lie there," Cynthia said.

"Well you heard what the doctor said;  he  did not see any reason why Ali was still in a coma; he thinks she will wake any minute," Jake reminded his mother.

"And that crazy doctor been saying that for a while too," Cynthia said.

Dr. Wright walked into the room with his  nurse Matilda.  Those two seem to be joined at the hip. Jake had never seen one without the other.  He asked Jake and his mother to leave so he could examine Ali.
