The Royal Librarian

Chapter 2

Chongyun waited for Xingqiu to wake up, watching as the boy was all snuggled up in his bed, cuddling one of Chongyun's stuffed animals and Chongyun. The bluenette couldn't help but play with the boys hair while he slept, it was so soft and incredible. Everything about his librarian was. He was shocked that he never thought to come to the library before, granted he definitely wasn't expecting someone his age to be working in his personal library. He expected an old librarian, like rumoured in all of those fairy tails or stories. The librarian was always old and wise. Whereas, Xingqiu was also wise, he was also incredibly beautiful and intelligent, and perfect.

Chongyun blushed, what was this beating in his heart? His heart was racing, it felt as though it'd break out of his rib cage. He prayed and hoped that this unusual beating of his heart wouldn't awaken the sleeping beauty.

In an attempt to calm himself he found himself observing Xingqiu's face. He had really dark eye bags and it hurt him for whatever reason. He felt as though it were his fault the male wasn't getting proper sleep, even if that wasn't true whatsoever.

"Maybe if he slept here with me he'd sleep better," He muttered softly, a blush dusting his cheeks at the thought.

The thought of Xingqiu in his bed at all times comforted him and made his mind go places it definitely shouldn't have. He shook his head, now was not the time for such thoughts, right now he had to focus on not waking Xingqiu up. And a way to get out of bed without waking him up. He had, had to go to the bathroom for about a half an hour, but it was like when a cat fell asleep on your lap, it's your job to not wake them up under any circumstances. Because said cat trusted you enough to fall asleep on you, and it was a similar situation right now, but he also didn't want to wet himself and subsequently Xingqiu. That was embarrassing, and he was 16 going on 17, he was too old for that.

He carefully lifted Xingqiu off of him, Xingqiu stirring a bit but not quite waking up. Chongyun sighed in relief before making his way to the bathroom.

After using the bathroom he came back to find a fully awake Xingqiu, snuggling with a large plushie in his lap and reading some random book (that Chongyun wasn't quite sure from where it came). The blue haired male shrugged it off and got back into the bed beside him. "Sorry if I woke you up," He wrapped an arm around Xingqiu's waist, laying his head on the other boys shoulder.

"You didn't, but it did scare me a bit when I woke up and you were gone, but then I saw the light in the bathroom," He hummed, peacefully reading his book, pressing his cheek against where Chongyun's head lay.

"Cool, you wanna read more of that Genshin book? I'm excited to learn more about that place, Liyue? And the journey for the twins trying to find one another..it's so incredible," He smiled up at Xingqiu. "I thought I'd never like reading or books until you came along, not to mention you have an incredible reading voice"

Xingqiu blushed "thank you Chongyun, I'll be sure to read to you more often then, and Liyue doesn't come up fully until the 2nd or 3rd novel we're still in Mondstadt for the time being, but there's a really interesting event coming up, here where's your novel?," He asked softly.

"Here, I'll get it for you," Chongyun removed himself from around Xingqiu, to grab the book.

He found it and came back to the bed, placing the book in Xingqiu's lap and snuggling him again. Except this time he got behind Xingqiu and put the boy on his lap, wrapping his arms around the boy. "Im ready when you are," He nuzzled into him.

Xingqiu blushed, "o-okay...uhm before we start, isn't this inappropriate? I mean I'm just a librarian and you're a whole prince, soon to be king, I don't understand," He looked away.

"Don't understand what? That you're incredible and I want to be around you? Status doesn't matter to me. You have an incredible heart, and you are rather beautiful. When you're dressed in your attire for working in the library you look more royal than I ever will," He chuckled softly.

"That's not true, you look incredible, especially when all dressed up," He smiled, snuggling into his chest.

"You really think so?!," His face brightened up like he was a toddler getting a prize or something.

"Yes, I really think so, now story time?," He looked up at Chongyun who kissed his forehead.

Xingqiu blushed as Chongyun agreed that it was time to start reading.

"Chapter 20, A Quest for the Darknight Hero," Xingqiu began to read, Chongyun snuggling into him as he listened to the story, he closed his eyes, enjoying how smooth Xingqiu read.

Chongyun learned that day he loved being read to, especially if it was by Xingqiu. He listened as Xingqiu finished the first novel, he glanced at the alarm clock resting on his night stand. He hadn't realized that it was already 3am, time went by incredibly fast.

"Xingqiu?," Chongyun murmured.

"Yeah?," He looked up at him.

"It's already 3 in the morning, do you wanna sleep," He nuzzled into him.

"Mmn I suppose that wouldn't be the worst idea in the world," He chuckled, putting the book on the side table. "Do you have any clothes I can borrow?"

"Yeah, I have a white t-shirt in my closet if you want," He yawned.

"Mkay, do you want me to get your pajamas?," Xingqiu eyed the tired male before him.

"Please?," He blushed as Xingqiu nodded, going into the closet and getting them both Pajamas.

Xingqiu faced away from Chongyun, taking off his work clothes and slipping into the t-shirt, keeping his boxers on. Chongyun lazily took off his clothes, throwing them on the floor somewhere, telling himself he'd clean it tomorrow. He put on his pajama pants and completely disregarded the shirt.

Chongyun snuggled into bed, waiting for Xingqiu to join him. Xingqiu chuckled and got in the bed, cuddling into Chongyun's open and warm embrace. "This is nice," Xingqiu hummed.

"Yeah," Chongyun agreed "i could definitely get used to this, and you...i like having you around, you make me happy," He yawned, wrapping himself around Xingqiu and falling asleep before he knew it.

"I like having you around too," Xingqiu whispered, kissing Chongyun's cheek before falling asleep with Chongyun.
