Year 1993
7th January
I couldn't sleep last night. Not because of I killed that bastard but because of harry. Why didn't harry ask me anything? What was going on his mind? Why did he behave so nicely with me. My brain is filled with so many unanswered questions. why did harry help me? Maybe he is not that bad. Maybe I was wrong about him. I should apologize to him for all the misbehave I did with him. And I should thank him again.
I am entering my university. The cops are here. I start to shiver. Amidst of so many people my eyes are looking for harry. Maybe because he helped me the previous day. But I don't see him. Everyone is looking at me awkwardly. Why are they looking at me?
One of the staffs inform me
"Miss Rose the principal is calling you"
I get scared.
"Okay" I reply
I leave for principal's room
I knock principal's room. A voice from inside says "come in"
I go inside the room. Entering the room I see cops sitting there. My heart is beating faster than normal.
One of the cops come towards me
"We found a dead body at the storeroom. One of your classmates was killed" says the cop
"What? Who?" I ask
"His name is Pete" he replies.
"Pete?? I am hearing this name for the first time. As our faculty is very huge. There are many students I don't know. But I really feel sorry for the guy" I reply
"You should be" he adds
"What do you mean officer?" I ask nervously
"The only solo witness has told that you killed him" he further adds
I starts seeing everything blur.
"Are you okay miss Rose?" Asks the officer
"Yeah I am okay" I reply
"So do you wanna say anything or will you directly go with us to the police station?" He asks
"Officer can you please tell me who informed you?" I ask
"Doesn't matter" he replies
"It does matter officer. You just cannot blame me without any reason. Is there any evidence? No right? So who gave you the right to blame me. On what basis you are blaming me? Who told you?" I ask angrily
Some one just entered the room
"The guy is right behind you" he adds
I look behind to my wonder the guy is harry.
"Harry?" I shocking ask
"Officer I saw her killing pete. I wanted to tell everyone but she threatened me that she will kill me. If you don't believe me you can ask Johnny. He was there as well but he didn't see anything. He left before it happened" harry says
I was totally shocked. My world just shattered. I always had trust issues. For the first time I wanted to believe someone. But failed miserably. Tears starts rolling down from my eyes.
" Miss Rose you have anything to say?" The cop ask
I look at everyone with a blur vision. My head is spinning. I collapse.
Opening my eyes I find myself at hospital.
"Are you feeling better?" Asks the nurse.
"Yes, I want to go home. Please call my mother" I cry
" your mother is here with the police " she adds
My mother with the police enters.
"Rose my baby what happened to you? Why are they blaming you?" Mom asks crying
"Mom please take me away from everyone. I don't want to stay with them. They are all so evil. Mom please take me away" I cry
"Yes my baby nothing will happen to you. No one can harm you. Your mother is here" mom replies
"Ma'am we have to take your daughter" says the officer
"Shut up" mom shouts
"My daughter didn't kill anyone" she adds
"The solo witness told us" he adds
"How are you so sure that the guy is telling the truth? I will sue you all" mom adds
"Ma'am we are doing our investigation if your daughter is innocent no one can harm her" he adds
" I killed him" I tell the officer
Mom and officer looks at me shockingly
"What? Rose baby you don't have to lie. Nothing will happen to you" says mom
" please miss rose tell us what happened? " officer ask
"I will tell you everything but you have to promise you won't tell anybody. You can arrest me after that. You cannot tell anybody" I reply
"Please go ahead" he adds
Mom holds my hand tightly.
I explained everything to mom and officer how Pete tried to molest me. How he captured me. Every thing. But didn't tell anything about harry helping me.
"This is it. If you wanna arrest me you can" I am crying.
" even the doctor mentioned you have marks on your body. Listening to you I am sure you are not lying. It was self defence.
No one will arrest you. You just need to complete some formalities of law." He says
"Thank you officer" says mom
"Mr. Harry shouldn't have lied. He should get punishment for what he did" he adds
"No officer" I reply
"He doesn't know the story. And please don't tell anyone about it" I added
"Don't worry miss rose. Your mother needs to complete some formalities for which she needs to go with us" he adds.
"Hmm" I reply
"And I'll tell everyone you are innocent" he further adds
"Thank you officer" I reply.
