I drove back to my parents' house, and all I could think of was the paper Indie gave me, rustling in my pocket. I wonder when I should call her, not too soon, but not too late either. I lifted my hand from the wheel. Sweat? Was I really that nervous? I didn't even have the heater on and it was like 20 degrees outside. What the hell?

I was hit with the smell of pancakes and syrup as soon as I walked in.

"You're back. Where'd you run off to?" My dad asked me from behind his newspaper.

"I went to Randy's."

"Ah. Next time you see him, tell him to give me a ring."

I chuckled, "Haha, alright." Only my father would use the word 'ring' in place of 'call'.

"That's all you did, hon?" My mom handed me a plate of pancakes.

"Thanks, and no. I walked into this pretty neat book store, met a really nice gi-" my mom cut me off,

"OH INDIANNE. She's such a sweet girl isn't she??"

"You know her?" I asked with a surprised tone.

"We'll of course! She holds copies of new romance novels for me! Such a lovely, kind girl, real pretty, too."

"Oh. Yeah, Indie gave me her numb-"

"OHHH ANDREW YOU CALL HER INDIE HOW CUTE, DO YOU TWO HAVE A DATE?? OH GOODNESS, I WOULD PREFER YOU WITH NO ONE ELS-"

"Mom! We're just gonna hang out! I barely met her, I don't think her giving me her number to date is what she had in mind." I laughed, mouth full with pancakes. My mom has always been excitable.

"I don't know Andrew... When a girl gives you her number, I think she has a little more on her mind than friendship."

"No mom, I don't think it's like that. For all I know, she could have a boyfriend! A husband! ... A girlfriend, a wife! Like I said, I barely know her."

"... Well alllriiiight. But when you two start dating I wanna be the first to know!"

"MOM."

"... Do you think she's pretty?? Do you like her?? What do the kids call this... OTP??"

"OKAY BYE MOM." I stood up and put my empty plate in the sink.

"I'ma get outta here, back to my place, okay?"

"Alright," my dad said, "but comeback soon, we haven't seen you in months."

"Trust me, I'll probably be back sooner than you know. Bye Loki." I scratched her chin and my way out.
