The day wore on and the only person to come to the house they lived in was Lan QiRen. Time and again he demanded Lan Zhan to open the door but time after time he was rejected utterly.
The only reason he was not able to force his way in was Lan Zhan and Wei Ying had placed protection talismans around the inside a few weeks ago, after his uncle had hinted at something.
Lan Zhan held his wife as he remembered that day when he returned to their home.
Memory
Lan Zhan walked into their home and closed the door behind him even as he tried to calm the fear that rose in his heart.
'Hello Lan Zhan, you're back earlier than nor ....' Wei Ying stopped as Lan Zhan sat at the table and pulled our blank talismans and began to carefully write them. 'What are you up to?'
'Talismans.' His one word answer was not because he was upset with Wei Ying or his question, he just needed to concentrate.
'I can see that .....' he picked up the first paper talisman as Lan Zhan moved it aside. Entry protection for occupants. This talisman not only refused the door to open to anyone other than the people who lived there, but it was to keep every entrance blocked in the same way. No one would get in other than him and Lan Zhan without them opening the door for them. He froze for a moment then sat beside Lan Zhan and took his hands so he would look at him. 'Talk to me Lan Zhan, why are you so worried that you need to protect us both like this? I have never seen you make one that is so ...' he didn't know how to word it but it was kind of aggressive, even for him.
'I'm not sure, but I was just talking to uncle without brother around and .... I would swear he just hinted .... That I was to ..... Marry a woman he knows.'
'Like I would ever allow that to happen, just last night we had our wedding ceremony and we are now husband and wife ..... even if none of them know about it., we are officially married.'
'I know and I am happy, also, I told brother and he was happy for us and promised to keep it to himself, but .... Something in my heart does not trust uncle with this.' He watched as Wei Ying sat there thinking, then let his hands go and reached out to start making talismans also. 'You are helping?'
'This is our life, our home and our marriage. I will help you protect it all.' He smiled when he received a kiss from his husband.
Twenty minutes later they were carefully placing the talismans on all the walls, doors, shutters, floor and ceiling. Finally they stood there and looked around even as the talismans became a shield and faded from view.
'There, that should work.' Wei Ying said as he stepped into Lan Zhan's arms.
End of memory
Lan Zhan came back from his memory and looked around their home. The protection felt like it was still in place so he didn't worry that much about his uncle storming in and demanding him to cooperate.
He was not as naïve as his uncle thought him to be, he realised that Lan QiRen had waited until XiChen was far enough away that it might be too late when he returned. But there was something his uncle didn't count on ...... his unbreakable, unshakeable, undeniable love for Wei Ying, his wife. It would take a lot more than a glare from QiRen to make him walk away from this marriage.
He silently swore it would take his own death to have him leave Wei Ying and he was sure that is one thing his uncle would never do. He may get angry, shout, reject their marriage, punish him over and over again .... but he would never kill his nephew just because he refused to marry some woman.
