"Look out!" Amberstream yowled. "There's a fox!" Dockleaf and Tawnyspirit dodged and got out of the way. Poppystar and Sunblaze raked their claws through the orange pelt and it yelped. It backed up and ran away.
"Phew! Now let's get back to our warriors, Smokeface." Poppystar commanded. She strode away into the forest, Tawnyspirit and Smokeface on her heels.
"Well, that was weird." Amberstream said.
"A whole new clan!" Dockleaf added. "Where are they-,"
"I don't know yet." Hawkstar cut him off.
"Come on. The clan will be wondering what happened." Sunblaze padded towards camp. Amberstream followed. As they walked into camp, Roseblaze and Seedspring crowded around her, asking what Skyclan was doing here.
"Hawkstar will tell you." Amberstream said, shaking her pelt.
"Please please!" Roseblaze wheedled.
"Are you a warrior, or a kit?" She teased.
"I'm a kit!" She flicked her tail. Amberstream padded to the fresh-kill pile and hooked a mouse. She sat down and ate it in small bites. Poppystar padded through the camp entrance, and asked for Hawkstar. Hawkstar padded out to her and they walked out of the camp entrance.
"Where is Hawkstar going?" Roseblaze murmured.
"I don't know. I'm not deputy!"
"It was just a question." She jumped up and strode to the warriors den. Amberstream felt bad that she had lashed out at Roseblaze. It wasn't her fault that a whole new clan arrived in the forest.
"What did you do?" Lappool asked.
"Why do you wanna know? You planning to be mates?" Amberstream teased.
"Well, um, cough, yes, cough." Lappool looked uncomfortable.
"What?!" Amberstream yelped.
"Hush, not so loud!" He whispered. "She's so nice, and she's gorgeous."
"Ok ok, I get it." She was sorry she teased him. "But you better be nice to her."
"I will I will. Don't tell Hawkstar yet."
"Oh, fox-dung. I forgot about Hawkstar."
"Mouse-brain."
"What are you guys talking about?" Tigerflame asked.
"Oh, um, uh you know." Lappool answered his brother
"Ohhh." He grinned wickedly. "Well, I was about to go tell her, so you better hurry up. You may, have competition." He glanced at Earstripe.
"Uh oh!" He hurried over to the warriors den and entered it.
"Well, who knows what'll happen. I wonder what's taking Hawkstar so long." Amberstream wondered aloud. She didn't notice Tigerflame's gaze on her.
"Hmm, yeah. What did he say he was doing?" Tigerflame asked her.
"He didn't say a word. I only saw Poppystar come and get him earlier." As she spoke, Hawkstar staggered into camp, wounds visible.
"That fox-heart lured me away to kill me! Attack Skyclan at once!" Hawkstar commanded. Amberstream tipped her head sideways. How dare she attack our clan leader! Cats rushed out of camp. Heading to fight. Heading to wound. Heading, for revenge.
