Virgil's first word

A/N: So this was going to be used for Remus and Janus's little Spider.

It was a nice March day in the dark side of the Mind palace. It had been raining all morning which was nice for the three dark sides. Deceit was curled up on the couch with their newly formed toddler charge. Anxiety who they had given the choice to let him pick the name he wanted to be called. They were just waiting for their young anxiety to be ready to tell them. Remus was doing the chores around their living quarters. Since it was still very cold out and it was effecting Janus more than usual. Remus knew the heat in the mind palace would be enough for the other five of them. But it wouldn't be enough for Janus. Janus was very content with this. The only worry he had was Remus's allergy to soap. Which had him break out in hives and hard to breath from it. Reason he would usually do the chores that didn't mean cleaning up stuff from the floor and taking dirty clothes to the washer. He felt bad for getting cold but Remus kept reassuring him that it was fine.

Janus believed him knowing Remus was right. He always did say Thomas needs a break and in order to help Thomas he needed breaks too. So cuddles and movies with Virgil were a great way to relax. Virgil however was mumbling softly to himself. It made Janus worry about. He knew how Virgil got all the time. He would have panic attacks sometimes. Which wasn't good. As if they didn't calm him down Thomas would be effected. They didn't want that. Janus looked at the young side wondering what was wrong. " Virgil what's wrong spiderling? Your mumbling to yourself again." Janus said worried that Virgil was going to have another attack. He didn't want that as it would stress Thomas out more about his school work and the play coming up in a few weeks. Virgil looked at Janus knowing he was right. But nothing was wrong at all. He just wanted their attention. He wanted to say something that would probably make them upset with him or happy with him. Either way he was going to say it. " Nothing is wrong mama I just wanted to ask you both something." Virgil said knowing he had let it slip out but he didn't mind if it did or didn't. He just cared if they were happy and that he was happy with them. He was happy with Janus and Remus. Janus was shocked by the name he had been called. Virgil had called him ' mama' as in mother. He didn't know Virgil saw him like that. He knew that the little side had just came here. It had only been a few weeks since he had arrived and Virgil already felt like his child the one he's never had. The one that had gotten away from him because of Patton's rules and powers. He knew he had lost Roman to Patton and it had hurt Remus a lot. Reason why he had gotten to Virgil first before Patton could the day Virgil appeared. He wasn't going to have another Roman situation. He promised himself he wasn't. " Um sure Virgil let me get Remus in here so you can ask." Janus said wanting Virgil to be heard by them both. Something he knew Patton never did. Or something he didn't. He wondered why Patton had changed at when he did. It was a lot. Especially in a short amount of time. It worried Janus at that time. But he was hoping to find out someday. As he didn't know why or what had changed Patton to who he was back then when they broke up.

Janus soon snapped out of his shock and looked towards the kitchen knowing Remus was in there. He sighed knowing this would be hard for him to do but he had to. " Remus can you come in here please." Janus said hoping Remus would come to the living room. He knew Remus was very rebellious. Sometimes the darker side of creativity didn't listen to him but it was okay with him. It was normal for these sides to not listen to people. It was in their nature not to. Which maybe why Patton didn't like Remus much and was terrified of what Remus could do with his powers. Janus knew Remus still had a lot to learn though. So he was letting him do what he wanted. Just so Remus can get the hang of things and let him be himself before having to control himself in the future. Remus looked through the window to the living room looking towards Janus. " Sure I'll be right there Jan Jan." Remus said knowing when Janus needed him he had to go. He turned off the water and drained the sink before going out to the living room to see them. He went into the room and sat down with the two looking over at them. " What's up?" Remus asked wondering what they needed. He noticed the tears in the corners of Janus's eyes scared by what he saw. " Janus why are you crying? Are you in pain? Did someone hurt your feelings?" Remus asked wondering if something or someone had hurt Janus while he was cleaning their home. He knew sometimes Patton came and checked on them but mostly it ended in a fight. After their fights though Janus would be in a depressed state from it. Which made Remus sad. It pained Remus to see Janus the way he was after fighting with Patton about Virgil. But it was their lives and what they had choose to do when they broke up with each other. Along with Janus taking him and Virgil with him to their new part of the mindscape. The dark scape. 

Janus giggled at his worries but knew he had a point about them. " No I'm fine. But Virgil wants to ask us something." Janus said wanting Remus to hear Virgil out. He knew Remus was a better brother than Patton said he was. Remus wasn't a bad person or side. He wasn't evil at all in Janus's eyes. He was just misunderstood. Which was okay. Remus will be understood by those three someday. Remus sat down and nodded. " Sure. What's up Vee?" Remus said wondering what Virgil wanted to tell them. Virgil took a deep breath nervous about asking them about this. But he knew if Janus had reacted well to being called mama maybe Remus will be okay with it as well. " Well I was wondering if it would be okay to call you guys mom and dad since Patton isn't here? I don't even know if dad wants me around anymore." Virgil said feeling like Patton never wanted him. Like because of him Janus and Patton weren't together anymore and that Patton wouldn't take him back if he tried. Remus and Janus noticed this and hugged the anxious side tight. They never wanted Virgil to feel that way. It was horrible to hear him say that about himself and Patton. " Of course it's okay Virge. I would love for you to call me dad even if you don't when your older." Remus said okay with that. He had been raising Virgil for a while now that they were here in the dark scape. He felt like Virgil was his brother more than his own child though. But he was willing to be a father figure to anxiety while Patton couldn't. Virgil smiled at that. He was happy that they were both okay with that. " Thank you mama and papa." Virgil said happy they were there for him. Remus and Janus smiled down at Virgil holding him close. " Your welcome spiderling." They said happy to see Virgil was happy again. After they calmed down they all turned on a movie and watched it. But something felt off to Janus. He shook it off but wondered about this. How long will things be like this?
