The Two Evils

Two evils lurking in the dark.

Two poisons seeping into the heart.

Close wisely, stay wary,

For their burden is too much to carry.

*

A scar surrounded by many,

Or a strike, only once but hurting plenty.

Two evils ripping you in half,

Sabotaging any chance to laugh.

*

Pulling and tugging you

Begging you to see what is true.

Pick your poison, both are equal,

Find the lesser of the two evils.

*

Lies and deceit sneering from behind,

Creating doubts that anyone is truly kind.

Two evils making scars,

Lighting fires on a soul once before charred.

*

Caught between the ones you love,

Both of them giving shove after shove,

Until you fight to break apart,

From the two evils after your heart.

*

Two evils waiting for the chance,

To destroy you with the pain they enhance.

Reluctant to choose between the two,

They are only waiting for you.
