Troubling Matters

What is it?
That troubled you so
When your heart stopped beating
Like it should.

When you shook your fists
At the sky
Because the rain felt too much
Like the tears you cried.

When you beat against the walls
Of that fortified fortress mind
As frustration clawed away
Every ounce of sanity.

When you screamed
Out every bottled emotion
That had built
Until the pressure exploded.

When your heart weighed heavy
And ached for eternity
While your eyes burned
From the exhaustion you carried.

When you said goodbye
And left me empty.
How could I survive
Without my friend beside me?

So what is it that troubled you so?
My fragile soul
Because I wept to see you grieve
And I wept to see you go.
