Everyone knew what Frypan really meant when he spoke about the Glade. Sure, he missed waking up at the crack of dawn to start cooking for the Gladers, and he missed watching the sun roll over the walls that kept them in. He missed the soft grass under his feet, and the soft rain that would fall so rarely, that it was a blessing as much as a curse. But, what Frypan missed most about the Glade, would be you. You were a runner, and his best friend. You would wake up early to help him make food, and make his bed for him because he was so busy. When you would head to breakfast, you always had a slightly bigger meal than the others, as Frypan favored you over them. He would help you brainstorm about the maze, and you would help him figure out what to cook. You did everything that you could together, being on totally different schedules. Frypan felt like he could trust you with the world. But, being a runner always came with risks. Risks that were all too real. And before he knew it, you were gone.
