At just 3 years old, Rose had been able to grow deep green ivy up and down her bedroom walls. Syline, who was one of Rose's younger sisters, was just now at the age of 5 learning to turn a seedling into a sprout. It was unnatural for Rose to have such a strong connection with nature. Some people whispered that Rose was cursed instead of gifted. It was hard for her to not hear the accusations and feel like there might just be some truth behind their gossip, something might just be off with her powers.
As Rose's mind was filled with dark uncertainty, there was a loud buzz that filled the room and brought her out of her thoughts. She glanced at her father and saw his brow furrow in concentration as he mentally attempted to determine who or what might be approaching. Suddenly the dining room doors rushed open and a Meadow palace guard briskly walked towards the king. For a moment, the guard seemed at a loss of how to deliver the message he came to convey. The quiet of the room was shattered as a single breathy such escaped the lips of the guard as the king's eyes met his.
"Unidentified persons crossing through the kingdom grounds my lord." He said as his voice became stronger and his back visibly straightened.
"They are at the front gates sire, asking to speak to the heiress of the kingdom." His cool gaze slid to Josephine as he finished his sentence, inviting her to stand and join the conversation. Josephine looked rather shocked at the absurd suggestion that someone would wish to speak to her than her father.
"Shouldn't the King be present in these unstable times? Shouldn't he be the first one to know of any news?" She asked, her voice strong and unwavering. Rose saw her sister lock eyes with King Aris as the guard once again grew silent. The tiniest of movement could be seen as the king bowed his head, proposing her to move forward with the guard.
"Set up a meeting." Aris's warm fatherly eyes slid towards his eldest. "Show them in."
