Hailey's POV
I stand there, looking at the place where Josh just walked to the cafetaria. I can't help but feel guilty. But then again, he did say we had to put an end to it at the ending of camp. So, I shouldn't feel guilty about not wanting to restart again, or should I? Ooh boys, they are so confusing to me lately.
I'm starving, so I make my way to the cafetaria. I stand in the foodline and see it's macaroni. Yum, my favorite! After I paid, I am looking aroudn for a table to sit on. I scan and find the table where Jake, James and off course Josh are sitting on. I hadn't noticed that Anna was behind me. She comes standing next to me, looking at the same spot I'm looking. " How come I have a feeling that that 'thing' that's going on with you has something to do with Jake's cousin?" I look at her, give her a fake smile and turn my head back to the front. "Like I said not here, people might hear you." How come it is so obvious? I hope it's not obvious for the guys. I rather keep this between Josh and I, like we agreed. I go sitting next to Josh, in front of James. Anna takes a seat next to James. She smirks at me. I choose to ignore her for now and start eating. " You okay now?" Jake asks. I look up for my plate. " Yeah, I'm fine." " Yeah, you were away all of a sudden this morning." James says. " I feel fine. I didn't feel well, didn't want to tell. But I'm okay now." I'm smiling. They nod and keep eating. I'm lucky that I can act pretty well at times, so they didn't notice I was lying completely. I feel Josh' eyes on me. I glance at him, but quickly pick up my fork and eat again. He shakes his head a little and eats again too.
I hate that I have to lie. But before we can talk about this, I have to find out why is Jake is acting so weird towards me most of the time. Then I might be able to tell him about Josh. We will see.
Jake's POV
The girls left us the moment we left the cafetaria, don't know where they went. And Josh had to go talk the guidance counselor about the first half semester he missed. So that leaves James and I. He has noticed that something is going on with me. He shuts his locker and looks at me. " We're alone. So you finally gonna tell me what's been going on with you lately?" He crosses his arms and looks at me with a concerd look. I sigh. " Yeah you're right. It's just.. I think I.." " Spit it out, man." Okay here it goes. " I think I'm falling in love with Hailey." " What?" I look away and then back at him. " I know.. Freaky, right?" James nods. " Yeah, you can say that. " " Do you think she knows?" He nods lightly. " She has noticed you're acting weird around her. She's not stupid, Jake. She'll figure it out if you don't tell her. I think she rather hears it from you than from someone else." He's right, but how am I gonna tell her? It's not that easy. I open my locker next to James' and get my stuff out. " You know it's not easy to tell your best friend you might be in love with her." " What?!" I hear. I shut my locker and Hailey is standing behind it. Off course, it had to be her. " Uhh Hailey.. Look it's a..." I can't find the right words. Nothing sounds right. She looks shocked and annoyed for me not giving her an answer. James comes standing next to me. " Hails, I think you know why he has been acting so weird lately. Maybe best that both of you lets settle the idea, okay? " You can say that. I'm going." She says and turns around. I sigh. " What did you expect, man? She has to let the info sink in. Give her time." James says. He is right. Wish I could tell her my secret differently, but she knows now. And I have to give her the time to process the information. Hope she comes around soon.
