Darcy's P.O.V

In order to get everyone out, Rick and Glenn went to find a box truck. I was holding a sleeping Maria in my arms still humming the song my dad would sing to me to calm me down. Andrea and I discussed what would happen and what I would have to do when I got to the group to earn our keep. Suddenly, we heard a loud siren noise. Maria covered her ears and squeezed herself as close to me as possible. When T-Dog came down he said they were here and we ran towards the loading dock and lifted the doorway and jumped into the back. Andrea held Maria while I got in and I took her back once I sat down. She laid her head against my chest once again and asked me to sing to her again which I did. Andrea smiled along with T-Dog and the others.

"Can you sing the song out loud? You don't have to, It would just be nice to get our minds of things"

I smiled and nodded. I didn't like an audience but these people were nice enough to help us and take us in. So it's the least I could do.

If I die young, bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song
Oh-oh, oh-oh

I continued to sing as the group swayed along. The guy I have come to know as Rick seemed to be in another world.

Maria had fallen asleep in my arms, so towards the end I sung a lot softer.

The sharp knife of a short life
Well, I've had just enough time
So put on your best, boys, and I'll wear my pearls

Rick and everyone else had a smile on their faces as we drove back to their camp.

"Thank you, you have a beautiful voice. Did you use to sing professionally?"

"Thank you and no, I would sing to children a lot though and it seemed to calm them or put them to sleep"

T-Dog laughed "Girl, you could've fooled me! I though I was in the presence of someone famous!"

I laughed and shook my head. The compliments making me feel shy and awkward. My Ex husband use to tell me I sounded like a dying cat and told me to keep my mouth shut around others. He was an abusive ass hole. Don't know why that wasn't a sign for me to leave but now hopefully the mother fucker is somewhere suffering.

About forty minutes later we were back at their camp. Andrea held Maria while I got out then handed her back to me. I followed them to a small group of people who looked at me and Maria strangely.

"Who is this?"

"This is Darcy, and the little girl is Maria"

"Is she your daughter?" The strange man asked

I shook my head "I found her in a tree hiding from walkers below. I got her down and have been taking care of her ever since...She like a daughter to me though"

"Where's her dad?"

"Don't know I promised her that I would try and find him for her though"

They smiled and Andrea lead us to the RV where I placed Maria down and told her to sit still. When I came back out I saw a woman and little boy hugging Rick. I assumed it was his family and smiled at the sight.

"Welcome to the group Darcy"

I turned to see that weird guy staring at me with a smirk, and the look sent a bad shiver down my spine. I got a bad feeling about him.

Daryl's P.O.V

"Damn walkers! their scaring all the game away" I grumbled as I used my hunting knife to kill a few of the one in the area before looking for more food. If anyone saw me right now talking to myself, they would think I belonged in the loony bin for sure.

I scouted the are and noticed that there was no other sign of any life. Not even a simple squirrel. think were have almost bled this area dry, it might be time to move to another area.

I ventured further down my path and noticed what looked like a overgrown cement path. It may lead to a house or building that could have food inside.  Normally I would wait to have Merle with me but it was now or never, especially when I go back to tell them that there is no more game in the area. Doubt the ones I saw will come back.

I followed down the path till I reached a small hut like building. The whole thing looked like it was ready to cave in on itself. The wooden door was hanging on by one hinge and was partially opened.

I surveyed around the building hitting the side to make sure no walkers were hanging out inside. Once I was sure it was safe, I pulled the door opened further and stepped in.

Inside the hut there were some shelves and a small fridge. By the sound of the hum, it's still running. I looked through the shelves first and found some ammo as well as some canned food. I through them into my bag and focused my attention in the fridge.

I opened the freezer and found what looks to be frozen meet inside. each one was labeled so you knew what was inside. Perfect.

When I opened the main fridge there was a lot of water as well as what looked like canned veggies. I knew I would need to get another bag in order to grab the rest so I leave a mental note to tell Merle that we need to come back here.

As I added the last freezer bag to my bag, I heard rustling coming from outside. I made sure to have my bow ready as I edge to the door. I took one look outside and saw deer grazing on the grass right in front of the hut.

"Today is my lucky day"
