From Spy to Ninja (KakashixReader)

Gate watch

You signed. After three weeks of recovering, you were finally on active duty again, but Tsunade had taken you out of the ANBU, saying you should take it easy. That's why your first mission was:

"Gate watching. This is so boring."

Even more, because your partner was so quiet. You would prefer someone that could talk you to death than this guy. You were looking sideways at him, his name long gone from your memory, when he caught you glaring.

"Do you have a problem with me?"

"No, I'm just bored. I don't know how someone can do this job day in, day out."

"This is an important job, so stay focused. I don't know what you used to do, but we can't just doze off on the job."

As you were arguing with your colleague, you missed noticing someone that came up to you.

"Good afternoon Kakashi. Back from your mission I see?"

That made you look up to the shinobi in question.

"Hi, Kakashi."

It was the first time you had seen him after you got out of the hospital. It seemed as if everyone was quite busy. Although it has been 3 years now, you couldn't shake off that uneasiness around him because of the situation with Sukea. But you wouldn't try to chase him away, because he was one of a few that seemed to be friendly to you. Not that you had many friends before all the mess with Orochimaru, but you didn't want to lose anybody else. Yugao had ended your friendship and it was hard hearing that from her. You understood her though. Her boyfriend had been killed by one of Orochimaru's allies and at the time you were affiliated with him. She didn't seem to be the same person as you had known. She really misses Hayate.

But back to Kakashi that stood in front of you.

"Yo, yes I just came back." He turned to you then. "Finally back on duty (Y/N)?"

"Tell me about it! I thought I would go crazy with nothing to do." You said overdramatically.

Kakashi chuckled. He had missed you, even if it was just talking...

"I have something to give you, are you free after your shift?"

"What? What do you have?" You were just too curious and suspicious about Kakashi's intentions.

"It's nothing special, just something that I want to give back to you."

Your head began to work as you thought what Kakashi could possibly have that belonged to you. But you just couldn't think of something. 'Has he took something out of my old apartment when he thought I died?' Although you were reluctant to be alone around him, your curiosity won and you found yourself telling Kakashi your new address where he could find you after your shift ended, in about a half-hour.

"I need to report back to the Hokage, so I will be at your home in about an hour if it's right for you?"

"Yeah, but if you only appear in three hours, don't be surprised to find out that I'm not there anymore."

The copy-ninja chuckled. "I won't be late." 'I never want to be late for you again.'

You watched him leave while still asking yourself what Kakashi had from you when your colleague pulled you out of your thoughts.

"I can't believe you know Kakashi of the Sharingan. He is so cool and so strong..."

You saw how his eyes sparkled and only now you understood how young the man must be.

You simply said: "He was my captain once."

His eyes widened. "Your captain? Does that mean you were in the ANBU?"
