Kao’s POV
I wrapped myself in my own blanket and rubbed my legs underneath the covers. It was a bit chilly that it caused goosebumps to scatter throughout my body. Pete’s snoring is music to my ear. I looked at him dreamily without blinking. His mouth twitched and he started yawning and stretching out his arms.
“What time is it, kao?” He groaned heavily. I rubbed my eyes and looked at the clock that was hung on the wall right in front of me.
“It’s 8:24.” I stated back.
“We don't have school today, right?” he questioned, scratching his head.
“No, we don’t.”
As soon as I said so, he whined back, “then I can go back to sleep.”
“Oh, you’re not going with me to the doctor’s appointment?” I asked back, annoyed at the fact that he probably forgot.
“It’s today?” he sat up, resting his head on the headboard.
“You don’t have to go if you don’t want to.” I set him the option to go or not.
“Of course, I want to go. I want to be there for you and the baby. Kao?
“Mmm?…”
“I’m sorry.” He apologized.
“For what?” I eyed him with confusion written on my face.
“For what I said yesterday. I shouldn’t have accused you of sleeping with other men. I shouldn’t have said that the baby is mine. I know where I crossed the line with you and I promise to not ever hurt your feelings.”
“It’s okay. I’m not mad anymore. I would have been also angry if I were in your shoes.” I admitted.
Getting out of bed, I walked to the walk-in closet and rummaged through the huge closet filled with clothes. I threw on a shirt and jeans. Walking out of the closet, I met Pete in front of me.
“You look handsome.” He complimented me with a smirk. I shuttered and brushed off the compliment.
“Let’s go downstairs to have breakfast. I’m starving. I shoved him out of the door, following behind him.
We were greeted by Pon and Karn. Several plates of Jok in the center of the dining table. The aroma of the breakfast was making my stomach growling. We sat down and waii’d. I started digging into his food without making time for a breath in between each spoonful.
“Wow Kao, what’s the rush? My mother asked me.
“I just have a doctor’s appointment. I’m in no rush.”
“Then why are you eating so fast?
“I suddenly just got hungry,” I responded back.
Sudden hunger. That’s normal.” My mom reassured me.
“Are you going to get another ultrasound?” She further asked.
“Yes, I will. Pete is going with me to be there for me.” I said.
As we finished our breakfast, we were heading out the door and into the car. Pete rubbed my belly and cooed to the baby, “I can’t wait to see you through the monitor.” Hearing Pete talk to the baby made my heart melt. I chuckled and rested my hand on my belly. I could feel that my stomach had grown a bit.
Pete was seated beside me, waiting for the doctor to enter the room. There was silence between us. We just enjoyed our company meanwhile we waited for the doctor to meet with us.
