Week 18 in pregnancy
Kao’s POV
Feeling better than yesterday, I feel emotionally and physically better. Although I feel emotionally better, my wrist is still burning a bit. I slightly touched my wrist and winced in pain.
Pete looked at me anxiously, “are you alright?”
I nodded in response.
The doctor came into the room with some papers in his hand. “How are you feeling Kao?”
“I’m feeling better. My wrist is just burning and itching a bit.” I informed the doctor.
“That’s quite normal, just don’t pick at it or scratch it. Keep an eye on your wrist and come back if you notice anything unusual.” He stated, handing me the papers.
Handling the paper works, “you’re good enough to go back home.”
After leaving the hospital, we noticed that the sun had already gone down and we went back home. It took about 15 minutes to arrive at home and all throughout the ride, it was quiet.
Going upstairs we went into our room and threw ourselves on the bed out of exhaustion.
After a while of laying down, Pete got my hand in his grip and smiled, standing up from the bed. He walked towards the calendar that was hung next to the bathroom door and looked at tomorrow’s plan.
“We have another appointment tomorrow.”
“Again? It hasn’t been that long since we went last time.”
“Well, it’s already time to find out the twins’ gender.” He reminded me, catching my attention instantly.
My eyes lit up and I exclaimed enthusiastically, “really?” I beamed.
“Yeah, I'm excited too.”
Both of us getting into bed, I went under the covers wrapping his arm around my neck. Feeling his warm touch, I snuggled up close to him, smiling right at Pete’s face.
As we snuggled to each other’s embrace, Pete spoke up, breaking the silence. “Do you know how much I adore you?”
“I don’t know,” I smirked back.
He reached down to my cheek and whiffed it, followed by a peck. In response, he got a giggle from me. He once again looked down at my bandaged wrists and hesitated in commenting about it but later decided to speak up.
“I’m sorry for everything.” Pete apologized to me, taking me by surprise.
“Sorry for what?” I raised my brows, spectacle.
“For failing you. I was the reason why you self harmed again. I couldn’t be there when you needed me the most.” Trickles of tears were flowing down his chin. As soon as I realized them, I wiped them away with my backhand.
“It’s not your fault. I did it without thinking. It had nothing to do with you.” I reassured him, attempting to comfort him.
After a while of comforting my sweet boyfriend, he slept leaning on my shoulder followed by me.
Kao in his dream…
Where am I exactly? Looking around, it all seemed familiar to me but I couldn’t put my finger to it. This place where I was at gave me bad vibes as if I had a horrible experience. On another note, how did I end up here? The last thing I remember was cuddling with Pete in our bed.
In the corner of my left eye, I saw Non come out of the kitchen and it hit me. I was in Non’s house. A mixture of feelings hit me like a wave. Confusion. Shock. Anger.
“Non, what are you doing here?” I gritted my teeth. I swore to myself that I will try my best to avoid him once and for all.
No matter how many times I was calling out to him, he was ignoring me as if I wasn’t there which angered me more. Walking up to him, I turned him around so he can face me but I noticed that my hand went right through him.
I heard again more footsteps coming from the kitchen. I looked back at the entrance and was shocked to see Tee.
“Tee, you don’t need to be torturing Kao anymore. Start torturing Pete instead.”
“Who’s Pete”
“Kao’s boyfriend,” Non yelled back, rubbing his forehead annoyed, “Time to get revenge on Pete.” Non had an evil smirk that sent shivers down my spine.
Out of the dream, still Kao’s POV…
My eyes fluttered open and I soon realized that I was sleeping. Although it was just a dream, I couldn’t shake off the bad feeling. I knew deep down that I shouldn’t take it seriously, but what Non said kept repeating through my head. After reasoning with myself, I brushed it off as a bad dream.
Slightly shaking Pete up, he groaned and rubbed his eyes aggressively. “What time is it?”
“9 in the morning.” I muttered.
He groaned and yawned at the same time. He then stood up from the bed and stretched his back.
I walked towards the drawers and picked out an outfit for the day. Changing into a new set of clothes, I went straight to the bathroom and grabbed my toothbrush.
“What are you doing? Aren’t you going to eat breakfast first?” Pete inquired.
“The doctor said you need to eat breakfast.” He recalled.
“Well I’m not hungry.” I protested abruptly.
He nodded his head and left me alone, not wanting to irritate me. After brushing my teeth, I combed my hair as usual. 30 minutes passed and I went downstairs landing my eyes on Pete seated in the kitchen.
At the appointment (Pete’s POV)...
I was quite nervous to be honest. Not in a bad way but in a good way. I’m just anxious about knowing the gender. We were called into a room by the doctor and were greeted as we both entered. “How have you been feeling Kao?”
“Good.”
“Are you ready to find out the gender of your twins?’”
“Yes,” laying down, he lifted up his shirt and relaxed himself.
She applied the gel on the cold metal and pressed it against Kao’s pale skin. He shivered due to the cold sensation. I looked at the monitor and my heart fluttered at the sight of the two little fetuses that were snuggling close together.
The doctor cleared her throat, beaming and then declared “Congratulations it’s a…”
1 week later (Kao’s POV) ...
Everyone was gathered at Sun’s cafe. The sun was setting down for the night. I looked at the beautiful, mesmerizing sunset, hearing the chattering in the background.
It’s been an hour since Sun closed the cafe shop. It was nice for him to use his shop to have the gender reveal party.
As usual, everyone was having a cup of coffee to their liking served by Sun and Mork. It was time to cut the cake. Whatever color of frosting comes out of the cake shows the gender of the twins. I already know the gender but I wanted to make it memorable and special to those close to us.
The cake was on the center of the table, everyone was formed in a semi-circle around Pete and I.
“Come on, hurry up! What are you waiting for?” Everyone looked back at June and Sandee elbowed him in order for him to shut up.
Pressing the cake with the sharp edges of the knife, I slowly sliced through the several layers of cake and took out the piece. I showed it to everyone. There was a mixture of pink and blue frosting filing.
IT’S A BOY AND A GIRL!!!!
