Author's POV
"Are you excited to spend the day with daddy and Uncle Tae?" Namjoon asked with his dimpled smile, to Hwayoung who is happily swaying her hand that is being held by Namjoon as they walk around the mall.
"Yes, daddy! I can't wait to play at the arcades too." She giggled, making Namjoon chuckle softly at her cute gestures.
"Hyung, are we also going to the art store later?" Taehyung excitedly asked, to which Namjoon agreed with a nod.
Just like promised, Namjoon took Hwayoung to the mall to spend some time with her, alongside with Taehyung. If you would ask why Taehyung is with them, it's because Namjoon promised his parents that he would take care of him and he won't leave his brother unless needed. Taehyung was once Namjoon's little one when they were still young, and up until now, he is still the same 'little bro' in his eyes.
"Okay, since my princess is in charge. Where do you want to go first?" Namjoon asked.
"To the arcades!" Hwayoung beamed and pulled Namjoon's hand.
And now they're off to the arcades. It didn't took them long to reach their destination. Just like the usual, the arcades is already filled with lots of people, especially kids and teens. You could hear the giggles, squeals, laughter, and joy from the ones who are winning or simply enjoying the games. Meanwhile, there are also groans, whines, and cries to those who are forbidden from playing again by their parents or to those who are simply losing their game. The colorful lights that are beaming attractively made Hwayoung to look with wonder, even though she's been always here every weekend. It never failed to amuse her, that's one thing for sure.
"Shall we buy tokens?" Namjoon motioned to the token stall near them, and the two nodded at him happily.
As they walk towards the stall, Hwayoung's eyes wandered around. She could see children with their family as well, but unlike hers, their's were complete. She's not feeling ungrateful that she only has her dad and uncle, but she thinks that she would feel better if there would be one addition to the members of her family. Ms. Park to be exact. And at that exact moment, her eyes stopped at that familiar frame walking pass the arcades.
"Ms. Park?" She mumbled curiously, hands slowly losing its hold from Namjoon's, but he was too quick to grasp it again.
"Hwayoung, don't let go of my hand, okay?" Namjoon reminded, but Hwayoung's attention was to the woman who seemed to be Ms. Park.
After the long queue, it's finally Namjoon's turn. While Namjoon is talking to the clerk, Taehyung excused himself that he'll just go to the restroom, leaving Hwayoung and Namjoon.
"Hwayoung, stay there. I'll just get my wallet." He said and took his shoulder bag to get what he needs.
However, as Namjoon was going to get his wallet, the same woman passed by again in front of the arcades and it made Hwayoung feel excited at the thought of having Ms. Park with them so she quietly walked away to follow the woman, whom she thought was Ms. Park. On the other hand, Namjoon is now done with the payment and when he was about to face Hwayoung, she wasn't there.
"Hwayoung?" He called while eyeing the area but there were too many people around. "Hwayoung? Princess, where are you?" He called worriedly with anxiety building in him, as he ascends around the place to search for her.
The interior of the arcades seemed to become wide and crowded as the disjointed thoughts surround Namjoon's mind. Heart pounding in swift motion. His body, slowly feeling the uneasiness as the cold sweats start to cover Namjoon's face. No, he can't lose Hwayoung. It's enough that he already lost his wife. And so, he tried to collect himself and proceeded to calling his daughter. While Namjoon was continuously calling Hwayoung, he was noticed by the security of the arcades.
