"I applied to be a devil hunter not a damn caretaker." Cursing under your breath, the devil hunter walking beside you pays no mind at all.

The two of you currently stroll down the streets of Japan, in which you both are in search for that one particular ice cream flavor the Angel Devil liked but unfortunately, forgot.

Emerging through the busy streets and still finding yourself looking neat and presentable enough from your clothes, the irked expression on your face never seems to fade away.

You lazily walked beside the Angel Devil, the scowl on your face still intact and never leaving. "Hey..." You decided to speak up, as the Angel Devil only hums in response, your tracks stopping at one particular spot.

"Where did you buy the ice cream from?" You asked and a thin air of silence encompasses you two. His dark roseate eyes wander around the place for a while and answers, "From an ice cream truck if I remember correctly."

Staring blankly at the tiny convenience store the both of you faced, you felt your heart drop for a second. "We've been searching for stores for the past 2 hours and now you're just telling me that? Oh.. God.."

You were supposed to be patrolling alone for today, in which surprisingly, the part of the job you enjoy the most. But for Devils know what reason, Makima partners you up with the Angel Devil and remembering that moment ticks you off.

"We're hopeless.." You heaved a deep, aggravated sigh and held your head down low. Seeing nothing but the asphalt texture of the floor, the Angel Devil tugs on your clothing,

"What is it this time?"

"That's the ice cream truck." The rose-red devil hunter points out to one exact location that you immediately followed your eyes from the direction.

Without no hesitation, you paced towards the place wherein the ice cream truck stopped by and saw alot of children buying their different flavored sherbets from.

The Angel Devil's coral orbs form into two tiny crescent shapes, a sheepish smile appearing on his face. He carefully catches up to you, following your tracks and distances himself from the large groups of people.

"Go, buy." You spoke meanwhile he only blinked repetitively. "Oh yeah, right." You shook your head and made your way to the ice cream truck instead.

While waiting for your turn as you are in a line, you look back to the Angel Devil to see how he's doing now that you're without him.

Seeing him just standing there from a distance with a small gleeful smile, you sighed and look back to the ice cream truck in your front. The children in front of you later exits the scene as you reach out your hand with enough bill. "Four strawberries, thank you."

A moment later, you return to the Angel Devil with your grasp occupied by the quadruple desserts at hand. He cocks an eyebrow at the amount of ice cream you bought as you slowly close the gap between you two.

"What?" You groaned, handing him the two ice cream.

"You didn't have to buy some too." He nonchalantly answers and proceeds to indulge himself with the freezing iced cream. He licks the top part, the sweet strawberry flavor spreading among his tastebuds that he was very fond of.

"Eating is much more fun when you're accompanied by someone." You retort and bite off a fair amount of the sweets, earning you a scrutinizing gaze from the rosy red haired.

The sharp pang of chilliness invades your tongue and even the deepest pits of your mouth, unknowingly scrunching your face at the brainfreeze slowly kicking in.

"That's not how you enjoy desserts." He states as a matter of fact while you only avert your gaze away from the Angel Devil.

━━━

Sitting on a bench in one of the quiet parks in the city, it was no doubt that the atmosphere surrounding you is definitely a suffocating one. Being stuck with one of the laziest devil hunters, what is there to expect when trouble comes into surface?

"Why do you hate being with me so much?" His voice, gentle as ever but you can tell from the tone he's quiet troubled.

You turned to his direction and answer, "I just dislike lazy or unmotivated devil hunters in general who don't take their job seriously."

"It's not like I wanted to end up in here." He retorts, while you only widen your eyes at his words. "I don't have a choice."

Looking back down at the grass ground, you noticed your ice cream slowly melting as it dripped to its cone. Perhaps you did not think of this outcome and you felt a bit bad for appearing cold and blunt to the devil hunter, who only wishes to either taste the best ice cream in the world or die than suffer for a lifetime— there's no in between.

"I'm sorry for treating you poorly." As much as you're a person with pride, you felt a strong sense of owning up to your mistake. "I did not see it that way before."

The rosé haired shakes his head, "It's alright, I'm used to it by now." Your lips tug into a frown, the feeling of guilt gnawing at your bones.

"I want to buy more."

You stood up and tucked your hair behind your ears, pivoting with one step to look back at the rosette. The Angel Devil just watches your actions, "Well, let's go buy some more then."

The Angel Devil's mood uplifts, at how despite a small fraction of his soul thinks that humans should still pass on no matter what, there is one mere mortal who treats him like another human being.

There are those who talk to him out of their job's purposes only and those who talk down to him, telling him how much he's wasting his potential if it wasn't for his laziness.

But this, today, is a different case— that someone actually apologized to him.

Despite the natural laws of the world in which humans and devils are two different lived lives, someone treats him as if he was their own. That realization alone left a bittersweet sting on his heart, but nonetheless stands up as well and walks towards you.
