Hey's POV

I stand up and walk out of the kitchen. I try to go exactly the way I came from. I reach Garfield's room and know I'm in the right track.

"-sorry. It's just, I miss my son." I hear a man say.

Are there more people in the tower than the ones I met?

I look through a doorway where I thought it came from, but all I see is Jamie. Looking down sadly.

Didn't he say he was calling someone? That's probably where it came from.

Ok. I keep walking, but just a moment after I pass the next doorway, I hear footsteps running to catch up to me and turn around.

"Were you spying on me?" Jamie accuses.

"No. I was just trying to find my way out." I tell him.

"Oh. You came from the kitchen?" He asks.

"Yeah, how'd you know?"

"Garfield always plays it in there."

"Oh."

"Well, you were on the right track. Why do you want to go outside anyway?"

"Dunno. I just didn't have anywhere else to go really."

"Ah, well. Neither do I. I'll take you there." He offers.

"Thanks."

We walk for a minute before one of us talks again.

"So, who were you talking to back there anyway?"

He sighs, "My family. They just miss me, my dads upset that I can't be around him. The bug isn't a big fan of him and it's dangerous."

"The bug?"

"On my back. It's fused to my spine, it's got a mind of it's own."

"Can I see?" I asked.

"I mean, sure. Just be careful." He says and stops walking.

A blue suit grows overtop his clothes and I notice a bump on his back.

"That's him." Jamie says.

I reach out a put my hand on it softly.

It doesn't make any sounds.

Just sits there.

I take my hand off and the blue suit reappears.

"Well. Here is the door." He says.

"Just a word of advice Jamie, the bugs an alien. It doesn't know your planet, it needs to learn. Its with you, whether you like it or not, just teach it how this world works. Like a friend, like a partner."

He just stares at me for a moment, but I decide this is my moment to leave. Bye bye.

I step outside. It's nice out here.

The air smells like salt.

I smile for a moment and continue to explore the outside of the building.

Maybe I shouldn't be out here. Avoiding people. Or maybe I should be doing more than avoiding them. Why was I here, completely free with the opportunity to run? I could leave now, return back to my normal life. It would be so easy.

But I guess not. It's not as if my normal life was good, this is what I need. To be around people my own age. People that are strong. That I can't break.

I go back to the tower and walk along the edge until I find a door. This was the main entrance.

I step through and try to find the bedrooms again. It isn't too hard. I haven't been many places, so I just go down the ones that look the most familiar.
