Asia POV

The door knob turned and Jazz walked in letting out a sigh of relief. She threw the keys onto my side table and laid next to me on the bed. I looked at her crazy, "What is you doin'?"

"Just checkin what you doing on that computer." She replied as she took a look at my screen and got off the bed. "What I'm doing on my LAPTOP ain't yo business." I looked at her over my screen. "Laptop, computer, same thing." She said as she got a water bottle out the fridge. I gave her a stank face and she looked at me with a blank expression. She grabbed the remote, jumped onto her bed, and began flipping through the tv channels.

As I was working, I felt her eyes staring at me. I turned to her with the intention of getting her to stop, but my heart dropped as I got lost in her eyes. Her big curls, smooth skin, tattoos from her neck to the tips of her fingers, her non chalantness, her lips, everything about her - in that moment it seemed as though I couldn't get enough of her. She switched her focus to the wall, breaking the eye contact. I looked back down at my computer and there was an awkward silence in the room.

"Aye." She called me, furrowed eyebrows, blank expression.

"Hm?"

"Did you eat?" She asked me, sitting up. I nodded towards the twix bar wrapper and coffee cup that was laying on the table. "That's it? You needa be eating fam." She said, sounding upset yet concerned. I looked at her confused, "Girl why do you care, you ain't seemed to give a damn bout me why change now?" Her face went back to its normal expression, "What makes you think that?"

"Oh so now you wanna act like yeen been ignorin' since you seen me? Iono what you want from me bruh, you act like ion exist and now you wanna act like you care? Man you weird, mad triflin'." I went off at her, but instantly regretted it. She could be a serial killer with her weird ass.

She chuckled and got up to get her keys, "Get yo ass up."

"Not if you gon' talk to me like that." I said, trying her one more time.

"We jus gon' eat. Is on me" She stood there waiting for a response.

Shit free food..where was you when I was homeless? I thought to myself.

"Fuck it." I sat my laptop aside and put my slides on.

A few days later...

We went out a lot, she took me to places that I haven't seen since I was a kid with my dad. Memories of him are heartbreaking, but I've been having fun. I know she has been too, or at least I think so. She is still pretty cold and distant, but she called me her friend. So I guess we're cool, in her own weird way. I kinda wished it was more than just that though.

"What you thinking 'bout?" She asks, snapping her fingers at me. "Ou my bad." I look down at my food and took a bite. "When are we leaving here?" I asked her, knowing damn well I didn't want this trip to end. "Why? You wanna leave?" "No." I replied quick as fuck looking at her then around her. She laughed a little, "Just two more days, my friend said she's been busy. But I can see her tomorrow and then we can leave." I pouted without realizing it. "What?" She asked as her face went back to its normal coldness. As I was looking around the restaurant, I noticed somebody. My eyes grew wide but then began squinting, trying to realize if it was really her.

She turned to where I was staring, "Wassup?" She asked me a little confused. "I know her." I mumbled. "Oh her The lightskin one?" She squinted, "Shoot. That's the friend I be talking about."

"No, I know the one she talking to." I continued staring and soon enough, she found my eyes. It's really her.

"Asia?" I heard the girl ask whilst staring at me. We both got up, "Ny?" I asked as I went in for the hug. I really needed this hug, I felt safer than I ever had since everything with my mother. It was the most comforting, nostalgic-filled hug I've ever had. "Where you been?" She asked me with a worried tone in her voice. I felt tears threaten to leave my eyes as memories of everything that I've gone through flashed through my head. I looked up at her. "It's been okay." I lied.
