Honeymoon

y/n POV-

Logically, y/n knew she shouldn't be worried.

But this horrible feeling had been coursing through her since her wedding, that the magic of her relationship would fade. The rational part of her played memories of Kuvira telling her she loved y/n, but this dark part of her wouldn't- no, couldn't, believe it.

So the first night into their honeymoon, she was distant. She slept a little farther away in bed. Was a little less enthusiastic about the delicate Air Nation pastries, and just all around low.

She couldn't help thinking of Kuvira leaving her, and she hated it.

The first night, she thought, Kuvira probably took it as jet leg. But, towards the second night, y/n could tell Kuvira was getting worried. When y/n stumbled coming down the rickety stairs to the beach, Kuvira seemed more worried than she usually would be. Did she think something was wrong with y/n?

That night, as Kuvira climes into their cost bed, she finally broke her silence.

"y/n, love, are you alright? You haven't seemed very well our entire trip."

y/n thought about lying, but her earlier vows came back to her.

"I- I just-" y/n started, before letting out a heavy sigh. "I'm just worried that all the magic will go away. I've seen it happen to so many others, the magic and love of a relationship fading as soon as they get married. I- I didn't even think about it our entire engagement. Not until the way here. And I just- Oh, I'm sorry, I've ruined the entire night, haven't I?"

"No- No, of course not darling." She pulled y/n to her. They sat in silence for a couple moments, y/n practically laying on top of Kuvira. "I'm glad you could tell me about this."

y/n chuckled. "I almost lied actually, but then I remembered our vows."

Kuvira let out a laugh as well. "Yes, I would hope you remember those, seeing as we just got married a couple days ago."

"Don't worry, that entire day in ingrained in my mind. It was beautiful Kuvira. Everything I've ever dreamed of."

"And- I promise, love, I won't let the magic fade." She held up her pinky. "Pink promise."

y/n smiled down at her, grateful for Kuvira being so understanding, and thanking her lucky stars she has her. y/n held up her finger.

Getting flashbacks to her wedding, the beautifully crafted rings slipping onto both of their fingers.

She spared a glance to the band around her ring finger. She connected their fingers.

"I, The Great Uniter Kuvira, pinky promise to not let the magic die."

"I, y/n, promise to not let the magic die."

They smiled at each other, both in complete marital bliss. Kuvira never thought she would get this, the pinky promises at midnight, the picture perfect wedding, and she never thought she would get her. A girl so perfect, so amazing, so just right for Kuvira, she's just lucky you decided to look her way. And she thanks the spirits everyday.

"Now," Kuvira smiled seductively. "How about that magic?" She flipped them over and relished in the sound of y/n's laughs.

Yeah, this girls all hers.

on another note, i've been wanting to change my name for a while now. while i love mine, ever since i started using she/they, they/she, something they pronouns, my name has just felt not right. i still want something feminine, because i'm a raging lesbian and hate men, but i want something a little more gender neutral.
