"Ehhh... Where were we... oh. So the Japanese warriors, led by the victorious general came stampeding back to the castle after a victorious night..."
It was already late afternoon, just around two o'clock. It was a beautiful afternoon with great weather, beaming sunshine, and the class president's nose was, as usual, buried in her notebook, scribbling furious notes. You couldn't possibly see another person more dedicated to their studies than the hardworking president. In fact, with each stroke, more and more of her face slowly disappeared under her book.
But for Kagami Taiga and many of the other students in the classroom, two o'clock was what they called the "Devils hour". Why such a perilous name? Well, two o'clock is when the broken air conditioning system shuts down at Seirin high school for half an hour, leaving the students sweaty and very often drowsy.
The red haired tiger wasn't just drowsy this afternoon, for the previous night he'd been up until 12 laughing on the phone with Kuroko about whatever high school students laugh about. He could still faintly remember the burning gulps of alcohol and Kuroko's sweet chuckle in his ear.
Just by recalling that brought a smile to Kagami's face, as conversations with Kuroko were always the easiest to have.
Then, a ball of paper hit Kagami square in the back, and Kagami looked over his shoulder to a disappointed Kuroko gesturing to his own ears
"listen"
Kagami rolled his eyes and turned around. The guy was still a jerk sometimes.
Sweat dribbled down Kagami's face in drips as the tiger lazily laid his head down on the table and shut his eyes. His stomach burned from the alcohol still circulating in his veins, and for now, that was the only thing that kept him from falling into a deep sleep.
*ding*
Kagami jerked awake as a text dinged through and rushed to suppress the sound with his hands, but the professor had already began to remove his monocle and set down his chalk. Kagami gulped.
"Ahem." The professor croaked, "Kagami-kun, would you care to enlighten us about the text message?"
Kagami rose hesitantly from his chair and said "no sir."
"No, no, please, I'm sure it's more important than our lesson, do share it with us."
Kagami could feel the rays of disappointment Kuroko was burning into him, and suppressed an urge to turn around and throw something at him.
Turning to the professor, Kagami hesitantly unlocked the phone to reveal a rather nude picture sent to him by a person labeled as "girl from senior class" and beneath dinged in a new message, reading "outside ur class room, come and get me" with a wink emoji at the end. Kagami surveyed the picture and sighed, a slight smile working its way up his lips. Nothing bad about skipping devils hour for a little bit of fun.
Kagami looked up with a feigned look of exasperation "Sir, its from your mother, she's got a really bad case of lonely housewife, she says she really needs my assistance getting out of. Oh wait no into bed."
At that the class burst into wild snickering and the professor's monocle dropped from his plaid sweater and clattered onto the marble floor, spinning a few times before it finally came to a stop.
"Out!" Cried the professor "Outside right now!"
Kagami bowed and removed himself from his seat and strutted to the classroom door, sending a little wave before shutting it and the roaring applause of his classmates behind him.
