"What do you mean? You ruined my whole life?" Sooyun's face was full of anger at Heejin, who was standing in front of her.

"No, I mean it. I never let my friends know about my parents but they're the most possessive parents somebody could ever had."

"How am I meant to accept that apology after everything you did? What about Seyeon and Minyoung?"

Sooyun handed Heejin a pack of tissues, beginning to walk away from her, "I hate to break it to you, but what you did is inexcusable."

"But-"

"No," Mia intercepted, "She does what she does."

Heejin sighed as they walked away from her. She stared at the two girls who were getting smaller by the second.

They're right, what I did can't be fixed with a sorry.

She squeezed her eyes close, holding it in once more. She knew her actions couldn't excused anymore, even if her parents were the one telling her to do them. After all, it was her choice to do them.

To everybody else, she was an arrogant rich girl, but to herself, she was just a normal girl who had too many cracks. It was like putting ice into those cracks, they would always melt no matter what.

She couldn't move forward like this, not in the state she was in.

Picking up her phone, she texted Sooyun once more.

heejin
I'm sorry
I really mean it
I can't explain everything
Just please
Talk to me

It was likely that Sooyun wouldn't respond, but at least she tried. There was the possibility that her parents would kill her for texting her like that, she wasn't sure whether it was worth it either, but at the end of the day, she tried. Unless Sooyun accepted her apology, she wouldn't be able to live like she was now.

Maybe if she could turn back time, if she could just rethink her actions and stop following her parents that day, she wouldn't be in that broken, cracked state.

"You're not going to accept her apology, are you?" Mia asked. The walk back to their home was way too quiet for the friends, often filled with the dumbest arguments one could think of.

"Maybe," Sooyun answered with a short word, lightly shrugging. "I don't know if that was sincere or not."

"But-"

"If she really meant it, then sure, but if she didn't, then fuck her."

"How are you supposed to know?"

Sooyun sighed, turning to Mia, "I don't." Putting her cloth bag on the shoe cabinet, Sooyun stepped into her room, "I'm going to change."

It was unlike Sooyun to be like this, to be so unenthusiastic in her speech, especially the swearing. She always acted like the most innocent person that existed, never uttering a single word that was even the slightest inappropriate. The straight face wasn't like her either, almost always showing some sort of emotion.

Sooyun was torn apart, she didn't know whether she was to accept Heejin's apology. After all, she had pretty much caused her to fall in a state of depression, but it felt sincere. Even though she acted like Heejin was her greatest enemy, the look in her eyes that Heejin had felt so relatable, like she was suffering, like she was stuck in a cave filled with her own feelings, tangled in them.

After she was finally changed out of her coffee covered clothes, washing some of them while throwing some in the basket of to-wash clothes, she opened her phone, realizing she had received a message from Heejin.

heejin
I'm sorry
I really mean it
I can't explain everything
Just please
Talk to me

sooyun
Alright
Let's talk sometime
I don't trust you completely but
At least I'm nice enough to give you a chance.
How about tomorrow at 5pm?
We can have a call.

heejin
That works.
Again, I'm sorry.
See you then.

Renjun could feel it, that Sooyun's emotions weren't the best. He fumbled around for his phone, his mind filled with worry of what could've happened.

Had she been in an accident? Had she fainted? Had she...found Heejin?

The endless possibilities circled the race track that was his mind, like they were creating fuel that drove his concern.

His fingers navigated his phone rather poorly, clicking the wrong app far too many times.

I never knew that a phone could be a maze.

Finally finding the app, he clicked onto Sooyun's name, the name blinking a slightly darker shade before it finally showed up. He breathed a sigh of relief.

renjun
are you ok?
i don't know, it's just the soulmate connection
I can sense ur emotions in a way
please
did heejin send you another message?
what happened?

sooyun
renjun
thank god
I'm not great
I did see heejin
she apologized
but I just don't know what to do
I don't feel like myself

renjun
do u want me to come over?

sooyun
no no, it's fine
ur probably busy

renjun
no, it's fine
ru sure ur fine?
would u like me to call you?

sooyun
oh that would be great

Renjun took a sharp breath, clicking the call button. What he saw was Sooyun's face, not covered in tears, but the expression in her eyes were enough of a sign.

"Sooyun! Are you ok?" His voice was laced with worry.

"I'm fine. Heejin sent me an apology, but you know, I'm not sure if I can trust her."

"Logically, I know I would say to not accept it, but it's hard to live with hatred."

"I know, I agreed to call her tomorrow at 5pm."

"Do you want me to come over?"

Sooyun nodded eagerly, "Thanks."

"I'm not doing this just because we're soulmates, well partially, but I like you, quite a lot, in fact."

Her light laugh escaped her vocal chords, "I do, too."

Renjun's smile grew at her melodic laugh. All he wanted to do was wrap his arms around her, to comfort her. Maybe even sing to her to make her feel better.

"Well, I'm going to now, I think I should talk to Mia. I rejected her earlier."

"Alright, go make up with her!" Renjun waved.

Sooyun waved back, the three beeps soon sounding as the call ended.

So, what do you think about Heejin?

Away from that, I've been trying to get more plot development here but am I going too fast?
