Chapter 12

You had been to a few shops already and were pleased with the new clothes you bought. Anne had the biggest smile on her face as she made Jotaro carry her couple of bags and was skipping ahead of the group. You glanced over your shoulder to Kakyoin, who was trailing slightly behind. He had been... off today. Maybe he's just in a bad mood or something. You thought to yourself before facing forward. "(Y/N), can I get some ice cream?" Anne asked as she pointed to an ice cream vendor down the path. "That's fine. Just wait for us!" You sped up a bit to keep up as she ran off. "Welcome! It's hot out here today. Coconut juice will do the trick much better than ice cream." "We'll take 4." Jotaro reached for his wallet but Kakyoin beat him to it and handed the vendor some money. "This should cover it." Right after, a guy grabbed his wallet and started running off. Kakyoin frowned and watched as the guy tripped and fell before approaching him. "You think you can just take my wallet? You worthless, puny little man." He then kneed the guy in the face. You gasped and Jotaro was shocked. "Kakyoin!" He called out but was ignored. "I'll teach you to steal from me." He threw the guy over his shoulder and proceeded to try and break his back. "Give me a reason to spare you. Huh?! Come on!" "Kakyoin, stop!" You yelled and he froze. He dropped the guy and straightened his jacket. "What is your deal?!" You said and pushed him. "I couldn't just let him get away from stealing from me." Jotaro stayed silent but his glare was cold. "Oh don't stare at me like that, Jotaro! You won't end out friendship over a little tussle, hmm?" "Lose the shit attitude, Kakyoin. We're all stressed but we're also trying to keep a low profile." You said before walking away with Jotaro close behind. "Shouldn't we go with them?" Anne said as she watched Kakyoin approach a tree. "I'll catch up in a second." She took a step back. "Are you sure?" Kakyoin turned his head and Anne saw the leg of an insect sticking out. "Okay." She quickly turned and ran after you. It was quiet amongst the four of you as you walked to the cable station. You spotted an ice cream stall and stopped over by the railing. "Why don't I get us some ice cream? Anne, are you okay staying with Kakyoin for a minute while Jojo and I get some ice cream?" She nodded and you gave her a smile. You placed your bags down and gave Kakyoin a small smile. "Thanks for watching these. We'll be right back." You quickly turned and walked to the stall. Jotaro stood beside you as you ordered four vanilla ice cream cones. "What is Kakyoin's deal?" "I don't know. But I don't think it's just because of a bad mood. If the last stand user Dio sent failed, I wouldn't be surprised if another has already made it to clean up the mess." You shivered at the thought and grabbed two of the cones; Jotaro handed the man some money and took the other two cones. "Whatever his deal is, try to stick close." You nodded and walked back to Anne and Kakyoin. "Here we Are!" You handed Anne a cone and she wasted no time in eating. An awkward silence fell amongst the group and you quickly finished your cone. "Jotaro, are you gonna eat that cherry? If not, hand it over!" Kakyoin grabbed the cherry off of his ice cream before shoving him over the rail. "Too slow!" "Jojo!" You grabbed his hand and the back of his jacket; you helped him back over the railing. "Are you okay?" You asked him silently and he nodded. "Good one, huh?" Kakyoin chuckled and put the cherry in his mouth. He started doing this weird thing with it while staring you down and you cringed when it dropped to the floor. "Again with the glaring, Jotaro! Have you lost your sense of humor?" He picked the cherry up and plopped it back in his mouth. You grimaced at his actions before realizing that his clothes weren't fitting him very well. "Kakyoin.... have you grown taller?" He smirked and was about to respond when the cable car pulled up to your group and the doors opened. "Get in." Jotaro said coldly. Kakyoin glared at him. "I said get in. The cable car is here and I have your ticket right here. Now get in or I'll punch your possessed ass into the car." Jotaro didn't give him a chance to respond when he punched him in the face and sent him flying into the car. You saw that Kakyoin's face was messed up and his mouth was growing bigger. Anne screamed and grabbed onto you. "What the fuck." You muttered and Jotaro turned to you. "Stay here." He said before getting on the cable car. You watched as the doors closed and they took off. You looked around and saw a phone booth. You dragged Anne with you and quickly inserted a few coins and called the hotel. "I need to be redirected to Mr. Joestar's room!" The phone dialed again. "Hello?" "Avdol, it's (Y/N)! We've run into another enemy stand user." "Where are you?" "The cable car station a few blocks from the hotel. The stand has somehow transformed it Kakyoin." "(Y/N), Kakyoin is here at the hotel." You rolled your eyes. "Yes, I'm aware of that but- oh shit I have to go." You said as you watched Jotaro jump out of the cable car, land on a concrete platform, and then jump into another cable car. You hung up the phone and turned to Anne. "Stay right here. Do you understand me? I promise I will come back. The only reason you leave this spot is if my friends come get you. Okay?" She nodded and you gave her a small smile before running to the open cable car and jumping in. You tried to look around in hopes of spotting them. "Come on, come on." You looked around and saw the two of them jump from the bottom of the cable car a head of you. "Oh you reckless idiots!" You muttered and watched them land in the water below. You looked up and saw the next station was just ahead. As soon as the doors opened you sprinted out of the car, down the ramp, and down the street to where you saw Jotaro being dragged to a drain. You spotted the stand user and didn't even think out your options; you just moved. You sprinted forward and threw yourself at the stand user. "What the-" He was thrown off and you managed to tackle him to the ground. "You bitch." He grabbed your hair and threw you a good few feet. "(Y/N)!" You grunted at the impact of hitting the water and stood up, ready to charge him again but Jotaro already had the man on his knees and begging to be spared. "You wouldn't hurt an already injured man, would you?" You frowned as you approached him and punched him in the face as hard as you could; Jotaro smirked at your actions and you shook out your fist. "I wouldn't. But my stand is an entirely different story." You watched as the guy was getting absolutely pummeled by an invisible force, which you were sure was Star Platinum, with a smirk on your face. After a few moments, you left the guy there and walked back up to the street. "Let me see." Jotaro said and you held up your hand; your knuckles were starting to bruise. "I don't think it's broken. Good punch, though." You smiled. "Thank you. To be fair, I had no idea what I was doing. I just... did it." He chuckled. "Well, you helped me so.... thanks." You blushed. "I have to be useful somehow, right?" He chuckled and you couldn't help but blush harder. "I'm just glad you didn't seriously hurt yourself." You were about to respond when you realized - Anne was still at the station.
