noelle }
i slammed the ping pong paddle onto the table. "dammit tim." i yelled. "you've gotten better since i've left."
i wiped the sweat off my foward and glared at my grinning brother from across the ping pong table.
"do you want to hear the score?" jack asked.
"yes." tim grinned wider.
"god, please don't." i covered my face.
"alright, alright." jack smirked. "lets just say tim was around 15 and noelle was under 7."
"stop, i don't want to hear how my ping pong skills have dramatically tumbled." I groaned.
"rematch?" tim asked hopefully.
"mum probably wants us upstairs to open presents." heather said as she slowly got up from the couch.
"thank god." i sighed as i walked up the rickety stairs with jack behind me.
we all went into the living room, my mum busily setting a tray of cookies on the coffee table and placing more presents under the lighted christmas tree.
tim plopped down on the recliner and heather and jonas on the couch next to jack and i. my mum sat in her normal floral chair that she got at a garage some 30 years ago that she refuses to give up.
jack carefully placed his arm around my waist.
"you're really cute when you play ping pong by the way." he said in my ear.
"you can stop flirting now." i rolled my eyes and grabbed a surgar cookie from the table and shoved it in my mouth.
"i'm not even flirting." jack laughed.
"I hate when you do this, i really do." i groaned.
"do what?"
"flirting."
"i'm not flirting." jack smirked.
"i'm not talking to you anymore." i told him, my mouth still full of cookies.
"ok." jack grinned and looked the other direction.
"god, i'm so done with you." i laughed as i placed my head on his shoulder.
jack rubbed the side of my arm and i felt myself smiling.
"i'm so damn done with you." i sighed.

"tim already opened his presents this morning, so how about heather opens hers." my mum smiled.
heather grabbed a large box from under the tree and carefully unwrapped it, then smiled widely when she saw a waffle maker under the snowman wrapping paper.
"noelles turn!" my mum cried as i was passed a 2 boxes.
i tore the snowman wrapping paper off one box and uncovered a shirt that said "i love my springer spaniel". of course, another christmas gift having to do with dogs. last year it was doggie outfits, there year before personalized doggie collars. i swear, by this point, i'm sure my mum practically loves tiffany more than me.
"now the other box!" my mum urged.
i opened a heavy box to a doggie bowl that read "i love my owner" on the inside.
"see, i thought you needed some things for your tiffany."
"geez mum, this is just great." i told her. "of course tiffany could use more things."
