I finally decided to stay. After all this time, I found a new home. They through a party to celebrate with all the people that were looking for me. There was atleast fifty people there. The party was great, but I didn't know why I couldn't enjoy it. I got a new home, a new life, but still I don't know. What will I do for a living? How will I get my education? Where could I get an ID? I'm a dead man, how will I do anything around here.
"Don't celebrate to soon. The future is still coming."
I walked out the party with a cup of soda and just sat down on the porch. I sat there alone and just thought about what I was going to do with my life. After a while Shannon came up behind me and asked if I was ok. I told her I was fine and so was the party. I just don't know how to keep going from now on. She told me not to worry. She has friends all over her town and they would love to help. Since she's a doctor she can make a birth certificate. Her friend in the police can put me in the system. Stef can get me an ID. I had nothing to worry. I finally could be at peace.
"Peace is your friend and your enemy. It makes you feel secure, but leaves you vulnerable."
After the party ended I fell asleep on the couch. Shannon through a blanket over me while Stef started cleaning the living room. In the morning the living room was clean, but not the rest of the house. I'm used to waking up early, so I was the only one awake. I seen the mess from the party for me so I had to clean. It took a while, but the house was finally clean. They were still not awake, so I started making breakfast. I learned how to cook in California and on the trip it was helpful. I made pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon and hash brown. Stef smelled the cooking and started screaming 'BREAKFAST'. I stood back away from the table were all the food was at and watched her reaction to everything.
"A good dead can get farther then a job well done."
Shannon came down stairs and asked Stef if she did all of this. She told her it was me. They asked why I cleaned the house and made breakfast. It was simple, the party was for me so I had to clean and since they took me in they deserved a nice breakfast. Stef didn't ask any questions and just jumped right in to eating. Shannon thanked me and said all of it wasn't necessary. I insisted I had to and told her to eat. When they both finished eating, Shannon looked at the time and seen she was going to be late. She was running all around getting ready.
"A dead done for something isn't being done for the right reason."
Shannon told Stef to watch me and take me around town. She waved what ever and fell asleep on the couch. I cleaned the dished and walked around the house. I looked at the pictures of when they used to be little. Shannon hasn't changed much, but Stef did. Stef looked like a good girl, like she followed the rules. She woke up and seen me looking at the photos. She walked up to me and said that that's was when they were 15. I asked what happened to her and why she changed. I asked her about how she got her scar. She told me it was a long story.
"The past happened one way or another. You can't change it, but you can learn from it."
