I Refuse To Stand Down

In the hospital...
Sonic's POV

I woke up, with this stabbing pain in my head. I groaned weakly as I sat up and looked around me.

I was in a hospital bed, that's for sure... Let's just hope it wasn't my possible death bed by any chance.

I was all alone, Amy was no where to be seen... I began to try and think about what happened before I fell out.

That's when it hit me! We were doing a double date night with Scrouge and Fiona and that George guy tried to poison Amy.

As my thoughts were gathering together, I heard a knock on the door. I didn't say anything but a nurse came in anyways.

"You're awake!" The nurse said with a small smile. "Yeah, but where's Amy?" I asked in a worried tone.

The nurse's smile immediately dropped and she gave me a concerned look and said,"You know that psycho?"

I snarled at the fact that she called Amy psycho but slowly nodded. "She's been in jail for a year now," the nurse said.

"WHAT!?" I screamed. "HOW LONG HAVE I BEEN ASLEEP!?" I shouted in shock.

"For about a year now," the nurse replied. I felt terrible. Amy was in jail the whole time and I didn't know!?

"Look miss, I have to go!" I said, jumping out of bed and rushing before she could respond.

I rushed out the hospital, and to the Mobius jail- taking off my hospital gown in the process.

I burst through the doors and sped to the front counter. The officer behind the counter looked at me and looked back at their phone.

"I NEED to speak to Amy Rose!" I urged. Everyone around me, including the officer behind the desk looked at me like I was a gas-station crackhead or something.

Then the officer behind the counter pulled out his walkie and spoke into it. "I got a blue Hedgehog who wants to speak to Amy Rose."

About a few seconds later, she gestured for me to follow her and led me to Amy's cell.

One look at her, and I immediately gasped in shock. Amy looked pale and sick all over. Her hair was ferocious, she looked completely exhausted, and she was crying.

"Ames..." I mumbled. She looked over at me and instantly froze. She tried to rush over to hug me but the officer stopped her.

"No, no, no... It's ok, she's my girlfriend," I told the officer. They seemed hesitant but agreed to let her hug me.

"Are you ok, oh my god... Amy... What happened to you?" I had so many questions but I didn't want to pressure her.

"Why'd you leave me!? Why did you leave me to rot here!?" She weeped. I felt a pang of guilt as she continued crying about how I left her.

"Amy, I never meant for you to go to prison... I was in a coma for the past year, according to the nurse. And I literally just woke up today," I told her.

"Really? I'm sorry, Sonikku..." Amy frowned. "No, no! It's ok, Amy. I'm here now," I soothed her.

"Visiting hours are over now. Time to go," the officer suddenly barked... Scaring me and Amy a little bit. "Wait! Officer! Is their anyway I can prove Amy innocent. I know what really happened," I said to the officer.

The officer gave me a look but quickly said,"She was already proven guilty. Visiting hours are OVER. Time to go."

"No! Please! I was at the whole scene! I know what happened! Let me explain!" I cried and begged.

The officer look at the other one and replied,"Fine. But I don't see why you wanna bail that b*tch out of here when you know she's guilty."

I gave her a stink race for calling Amy a b*tch. D*mmit, what is up with name-calling Amy so much, though!?

The officer lead me and Amy to the main office, where we sat down across from the sheriff.

Amy looked super uneasy, but I assured her that everything will be okay. Man, she must've been through a lot while I was sleep...

"OK, so I heard you're basically a wittness," the sheriff said to me.

"Yes, I am indeed a wittness," I responded with a firm voice, showing him I was serious about the situation. "Mind telling me your side of the story?" The sheriff said.

"So it happened at Chester's... We were on a double date with Scrouge the Hedgehog and Fiona Fox. There was this waiter. He was actually head over heels for Amy at the time...

So we ordered our drinks and Amy ordered a sweet tea. And to clarify, all of our drinks were in regular cups. But Amy's drink came in a whole wine glass. Amy was a bit concerned about the whole wine glass herself and didn't drink it yet...

So I asked if I could take a sip of her drink, I took a sip and immediately felt a heart burn. Then everything around me got blurry and I could hardly hear. Amy was trying to get me to stay up but I blacked out from there...

And that's my side of the story." I made sure to include all the details so the sheriff can hear me out clearly.

"You said there was a waiter, what's the waiter's name?" The sheriff asked. "His name was George, sir... According to his badge." I said quickly.

"Ok, I'll schedule an appointment in court and see if you can prove this girl, right here- innocent," the sheriff said as he took out his laptop and began typing something.

"Thank you, so much! Thank you! This means the world to me. I'd do anything to ensure I can be with Amy again and that she's happy," I said to the sheriff. And the sheriff seemed to like how I had it going for Amy.

Me and Amy were about to walk out until the sheriff stopped me. "Wait! You said you went on a double date? Who were those people you went with again?"

"Scrouge the Hedgehog and Fiona Fox," I said and left with Amy and the officers.

The officer put Amy back in her cell. "Don't worry Amy, I'll come back tomorrow... I promise," I assured her. She came up towards the bars and muttered,"Thank you, Sonikku..." and sat back down on her cell bed.

After that, I left the jail and walked back home. I signed and went to me and Amy's bedroom. I noticed a picture of me and Amy on her dresser. I took the picture in my hand and held it close to me.

I gave it a kiss before putting it back down. I lay down in the bed and fall asleep...
