Saylor was late. It had been 30 minutes and she wasn't here. I assumed they wouldn't let her in because technically visiting hours were over. When the doctor came in I asked about it.
"Hey, my girlfriend was supposed to come see me, can you please let her in? I just need to see her face." It was great to call her my girlfriend. I don't know if she wanted that, but I liked it, I planned for her to be my girlfriend, for us to go on dates together, and be a happy couple. I thought about her wearing my jersey and cheering for me in the stands.
"There wasn't a girl waiting in the lobby, what's this lucky girl's name?"
"Saylor weston." I said, smiling at the sound of it. His face falters. "What?" I say, "You know her?"
"Son, I'll be right back." He says. Something must be wrong.
"What? What is it?"
"I'll be right back." He says, walking out of the room. Leaving me to worry. What if something happened to her. Nothing could have happened right? We just figured it out.Mom walks in and I can see it on her face. Something happened. Something is very wrong.
"Mom, what is it? Why is no one telling me anything?"
"Honey, I'm so so sorry." she says, grabbing my hand.
"Sorry about what mom?"
"Honey, I need you to calm down and promise me to breath." I nod "Saylor ran a stop sign and got hit by a car coming through the intersection. She flipped the car and there was nothing they could do. I'm so sorry Ezra." What did she mean? Was Saylor...no she couldn't be. I didn't lose her in a car accident, this is a dream, I'm still in a coma and I'm just replacing Brinly with Saylor that's all. She can't possibly be gone.
"Mom, I'm still in a coma, she's not dead and this is all a dream." I said, laughing to myself. This wasn't real, It was all made up.
"Ezra." She says. I stare at her, I don't think this is a dream. A group of staff walks in. Their eyes filled with pity. Shes gone. I scream and cry and cry until I'm out of tears.
