Jack glared at his brother, attempting to process what he had just heard. "What the hell does that mean?" He asked, throwing his hands up.

"Daniel, what are you talking about?" Ena chimed in, twisting in her chair to face him.

He signed, and Geline watched his nose wrinkle up the way Jack's did when he found himself in an uncomfortable situation.

"It is precisely as I say. The two attacks are connected, and I believe I know who carried them out."

Jack scoffed and rolled his eyes.

"Ya know this how? Heard it through the ol' rumor mill in London, eh? At those balls and dinner parties where ya wear those stuffy collared shirts?" He asked, wiggling his fingers at his neck for effect.

"Yes, Jack. That is exactly how I know," Daniel countered, and Jack laughed.

"Christ, Daniel, do ya think yourself so important that-"

"Teague wrote to me for help, Jack. Our father knew that something was afoot, and he was ultimately correct."

Geline heard Ena whimper as she looked between her brothers.

"You knew he was in danger?" She asked, Daniel. "You knew and said nothing to either of us?"

"He told me not to worry anyone with his suspicions, Ena."

"I don't mean to interrupt this family discussion, but what exactly did he say to you?" Elizabeth asked.

Daniel pulled a chair out and sat, calmly resting his hands together on the table. After a moment, Elizabeth and Jack did the same.

"He wrote to me near a year ago, and I was surprised to receive word from him. I thought perhaps someone had been hurt, or worse. Instead, he told a tale that at first I found to be the ramblings of an old man. But the more he wrote, the more I began to realize that what he spoke of could not merely be a coincidence. He told me that a stowaway on his ship, a young boy, had been caught with detailed papers and charts of each pirate lord. Names, ships names, crew logs, where the ship's made berth; everything. Teague pressed the boy for days, asking why he was in possession of such information. The young boy cracked under the pressure and told our father that he had been paid a handsome sum to infiltrate Shipwreck Cove and report back to London with his findings. He gave a name too; Sir Bertram Drummond. The boy had not been told the reason for his infiltration, only that he would be paid."

Daniel cleared his throat before moving on.

"So, he wrote to me, knowing that Cecilia and I had risen in London society, and asked me to gather information on Drummond. Our father thought he was in danger. So, I began to socialize. I was hearing quite a bit and making headway until I received the letter that father was killed. I came straight here."

Geline watched as Jack stared at his brother in disbelief, watched as his mouth would open to speak only to shut again when words failed him. It was Ena who spoke first.
