Teenagers.

There are teenagers that drink and smoke their way through life, ones that find new love, ones that get their heart broken, ones that get abused, ones that lose friends, ones that don't understand shit.

The list could go on to describe teenagers. Some of those things describe me but I'd rather not think about it. I close my locker just as I see my best friend Hayden running up to me with his famous friendly smile.
"My love!" He says taking me in his arms and lifting me slightly off the ground as I laugh before he puts me back down. Hayden was way taller than me as he was 6 foot 2 and I was 5 foot 9. He made me seem small even though I am a tall girl.

"Highschool is kicking my butt" He says dramatically before throwing himself onto the lockers.
"Suck it up dork we only have this year and then we can leave" I say smiling at him.
"But does it have to take so long to end, can't we just write our finals and get this over with?" He says and I raise one eyebrow.
"Hayden, are you even anywhere near being ready for finals?" I ask him and he looks at me.
"Not even in the slightest bit but I want to leave" he says and I laugh.

"Let's just try our best to get through this year" I say and he sighs. I look past him and down the corridor when I see Marcus with his dark brown hair pushed back, his eyes sparkling and his charming smile on his face. He looked like a knight in shining armour ready to take me away in his strong arms. Just the way he smiled made my heart flutter.
"Ah here comes Mr. Dreamy boy" Hayden says very sarcastically.
"Hayden be nice" I say looking back at my crush as he gets closer and closer to where we were.

"I still don't know what you see in him, he is a total douche" Hayden says which makes me look at him.
"He is not, he is nothing but a charmer and a sweetheart!" I say and he shakes his head.
"Aww darling you got it so bad that you are blinded" he says and I roll my eyes and punch him in the shoulder playfully.
"I wouldn't be so judgy not with your past, let me remind you of Hannah" I say and he cringes.
"I'd rather not be reminded" he says and I smirk.

I hear soft mumbling behind me and I turn my head to see a beautiful girl that made me look twice. She had thick brown hair that was done in a messy bun with some hair that had fallen in the front, her lips were full and perfect as she took her bottom lip in between her teeth. I look her up and down unable to look away from her. She was wearing a black metallic shirt with black ripped jeans. She had a black denim jacket over her shirt, and she wore many necklaces around her neck. Rings filled her delicate fingers as she held a piece of paper between them.

Her eyes shifted to mine and that's when I really did freeze as it was her eyes that really caught me. Her eyes were so brown and enchanting that you could almost melt in them.
"Is this locker room 114?" She said her voice annoyed and not caring yet still attractive. She pointed at the locker next to mine and I managed to shake myself out of the spell she cast on me. I smile at her.
"Yes" I say and she nods her head before looking at her locker.

She quickly unlocks it and puts some books in it without a smile on her beautiful face. This girl was definitely new and I would never forget such a beautiful face like hers.
"So are you new here?" I ask her as she shuts her locker closed.
"Yes, I'm sure that wasn't hard to piece together" She said almost trying to intimidate me, but it only just pulled me more into her.
"Tess!" I turn my head and see Marcus standing there with the same charming smile as he runs a hand through his hair.

I completely forgot about the new girl and quickly put on my best smile.
"Hey, Marcus" I say and I side-eye Hayden who pretends to vomit while trying not to be seen by Marcus.
"We have Science first, right?" He asks and I nod my head.
"I was thinking that we could walk together to class?" He asks and I clutch my backpack straps tightly.

I looked behind me just to see that the new girl was gone without a trace. A little part of me wanted to look for the girl but the rest of me didn't want to miss an opportunity to hang out with Marcus.
"I'd love to" I say and his smile seems to grow.
"Great!" He says and I look back at Hayden.
"Yeah, I'll see you later asshole" He says and I smile gratefully at him as he salutes me before wandering off.

Marcus and I head to science as he chats away. I was super nervous, but I tried not to show it. We head inside the class and surprisingly Marcus takes a seat next to me.
"Hey, Tess?" He asks me and I look at him.
"Yes?" I say.
"I was wondering if you wanted to come to this party I'm having at my house on Friday?" He says and I bite my bottom lip. I've never been to a party as I never really saw the purpose of them, but I just couldn't say no to his perfect smile.

"Yeah sure, but can I bring some friends?" I ask him.
"Yes of course bring as many people as you want" He says and I smile.
"Thanks, Marcus" I say just as the bell rings and everyone takes their seat. School went quickly as I didn't stop writing and before I knew it, it was already the end of the day. I head outside to meet up with Casey and Hayden who were already waiting for me.

I hug both of them and they hug me back before we pull away.
"Hey, I brought my car today do you want a ride?" Casey asks me and I shake my head
"Thanks for the offer Casey but I'm still going to walk" I tell her and she smiles at me.
"Suit yourself Tess" She says and turns to look at Hayden.
"what about you Hay do you want a ride?" She says smirking at him, and he rolls his eyes.

"First of all, I told you not to call me that nickname, and second no thanks I have community service at the school in 30 minutes" He says.
"I'm still going to call you Hay" She says and Hayden gives her a death glare and they both start bickering as I look around. These two are always bickering but in a playful way, nothing they say to each other is rude or will upset the other. I let them bicker for a little bit before I step in.

"You two that's enough" I say and they both pout and cross their arms.
"She started it!" Hayden says and I shake my head and smile.
"It doesn't matter who started it, just quit it" I say like I was talking to my two children who just got into a fight. In a way these two acted like my children, I suppose.
"Okay I have to go you two, Don't bite each other's head off when I leave" I say smiling at them and they look at me and smile at me.

"We'll try" Casey says before smacking Hayden on the back and he side-eyes her. I laugh and shake my head.
"Good enough, see you guys tomorrow" I say and they wave at me as I walk away. I head down my usual path that I always take to and from school. That's when I noticed the new girl from earlier was walking in front of me with headphones and her hands in the pockets of her denim jacket. She was quite ahead of me, but I felt as if I shouldn't disturb her. She walks in front of me for a while and seems to make the same turns that I want to do. It's like we were heading the same way. She took a right turn into my street and now I was really confused. Does she also live around here?

She takes a left turn and heads towards a quite modern two-story house and I stop to watch her. My house was a few houses from her, and I was now even more confused. I knew someone lived here but I never saw them and if she lives here then why is she new to my school now? Maybe she was in a different school and decided to move schools but even then, it's odd for people to move schools, especially in the last year of high school. I shrugged my shoulders and headed down the street, but I couldn't help but turn around and look at her house again just to see her leaning against her porch with her backpack strap on one of her shoulders directly looking at me. Our eyes meet and we both just stare at each other. I don't know how long we looked at each other before I lifted my hand and waved at her. She finally looks away from me but instead of heading into her house she puts her backpack down on the porch's stairs and walks straight towards me. I watch as she approaches me before she stops right in front of me. Then finally she smirks at me and sticks her hand out.

"I haven't introduced myself properly, Hi my name is Max" She says and I look down at her hand before smiling and shaking her soft hand, as her cold rings hit my skin I shiver.

"Hi I'm Tess"
