Suki had been very literal when she said not all the warriors would want to come. Three. Other. Warriors. Plus Gya, Shomi and Suki, but still.
A week after Suki's decision to go, they were off. Gya was excited at first, but after a few days, her spirits had dropped significantly.
Who the heck said the world was so big and made little kids so annoying?!
The day the warriors got to the main land, they meet a family on the road that was trying to get to Ba Sing Se. Two parents, and three rambunctious little kids. Something about the fire nation burning down their village. Over used story, but it was true and Gya knew the feeling.
During the time she had been hurt, the rest of the island had been helping rebuild the village. It wasn't done yet, but the parts that were almost looked good as new.
After very long days of traveling with the family, they finally made it too a ferry station people went to get across a lake to Ba Sing Se. The refugees there looked horrible. They were dirty and tired. Some of them looked like they had been trying to get into the city for weeks. And there were so many of them. Shomi asked the the man at the desk about it and he said there were to many refugees, and not enough people to keep them under control.
Just like how Suki had agreed to escort the family to the ferry, she quickly agreed to help the desk man. And that was how Gya found herself a lovely job as a security guard. Great.
"Do I really have to wear this?" Gya complained to Shomi after trying on her security guard uniform.
Shomi laughed. "It can't be that bad. Common out where I can see!" Gya glumly walked out of the stations bathroom. If you could even call it that. People were sleeping on the floor and laying across the door way. There was barley any privacy.
"It's um, fine?" Shomi told Gya, clearly lying. Gya plopped down onto a bench next to her. "It's ridiculous." she said, the top of her helmet wiggling as she spoke.
The outfit had green armor over a yellow shirt and white baggy pants. Then it had green boots and gloves, and to top it all off, a belt with an earth kingdom insignia and helmet that had a wiggly stick like thing coming of the top.
"Ugh, when Suki said 'help the world' she didn't mention wearing this crazy thing. I thought we would actually get to fight, but this? This is just horrible." Gya put her face in her hands, and Shomi tried giving her a pat on the back. Gya didn't pull away, like she would have done a few weeks ago. That was progress.
"Maybe, but at lest your helping. That's something right?" Shomi smiled trying to help. Gya shrugged, not looking up. Shomi decided to take it one step further. She reached down, and gave Gya a hug.
Gya flinched, but didn't pull away. She didn't remember ever being touched like that before. She probably had never been. It felt uncomfortable, like there wasn't a right place to put your arms and head, but it also felt oddly right right. There was a person she could count on. Reminding her they would always be there.
"Thank you." Gya whispered into Shomi's ear. "Thank you."
A/N: We have made it to the end of Gya's part! Yay! This has been so much fun to write, and if you made it to the end, your amazing, I hope you enjoyed it.
But the book isn't over! I recently added a new part and plan to add onto the story even more.
Tell me what you think of Gya and Shomi together. ;)
