Gya woke up and looked around. The sun had just come up and was shining in the window. It was only dawn but Gya liked getting up early. Mostly the sensation of being to only one up, and the fact that training started at bright and early. She preferred the quiet.

Gya got out of bed and walked across the room to her closet. Gya put on her warrior uniform. It took over ten minutes when she first started wearing it six years ago when she was seven and started training with Suki, but now it only took her about five. Gya thought many of the parts where unnecessary and only slowed her down in battle, but she had stopped complaining about it years ago.

After putting on her uniform, Gya went to make breakfast. Simple rice would do. Gya didn't have much, and she didn't need much. That was why her house was so small, with just one room, a bed, closet, table, chair, and small cooking area.

Next was makeup. This was unarguably Gya's least favorite part of being a Kyoshi warrior. By the spirits in the spirit world, WHAT WAS THE POINT?! Just because avatar Kyoshi wore it didn't mean they all needed to! Gya didn't care-actually she was rather glad-that her makeup was the absolute worst out of all the Kyoshi warriors.

Now that Gya was thinking about it, why was she a Kyoshi warrior anyway? Because she liked to fight, and this was the only way she could learn to be good enough to destroy the fire nation. Right? Gya then scoffed. Three times in the last two days she had thought about her feelings and "the bigger picture". She was going soft, and she was almost late. Finishing her makeup quickly, Gya ran out the door.

When she arrived at the training building Suki was reading off assignments for the day. "Tala, Feli, you're here doing sparing with me. Gya, Shomi, you're patrolling around Unagi bay. Oh, and Gya, try to stay focused?" Gya glared but nodded. Suki was her leader. But really, WHY did Suki have to call her out like that? Still, she was glad Suki made no other reference to the events of the day before.

She quickly snapped back to attention as Suki finished talking. "After lunch we'll come back here and do one on one combat. Any questions?" Suki looked around, but no one spoke up. The warriors started filing out, and Gya followed them. Shomi was waiting for her outside.

"Hi." Gya said plainly.

"Hey."

Gya didn't know her very well, but she knew Shomi was quiet.  Gya shrugged and started walking towards the bay. Reluctantly, Shomi followed her.

The girls had been wandering around the bay area for a few hours. Patrolling wasn't very fun, but it was better than being stuck in a room doing a group dance fight all day. Besides, the Unagi bay was probably the most important patrolling job on the island. That meant Suki still trusted Gya to some extent. She didn't know what to think of that.

Gya walked from one end of the bay to the other a few times then got bored and sat down on a rock to clean her fans. She didn't really pay attention to what her companion was doing. Usually when Gya looked up, Shomi was watching the Unagi or the elephant koi. She didn't really care.

Suddenly, Shomi came running up to her frantically. "Someone's coming!" She called no longer her usual quiet self. "Look!" Shomi pointed off into the distance. There was something coming-no flying toward them.

"What is that thing?" Gya breathed. It looked like a giant furry buffalo-dog, but with six legs, and a huge flat tail.

"I don't know, but I'm not waiting to find out." Shomi was no longer the quiet girl from training. She was a leader, taking charge when it was needed. "I'm going to get the other warriors. You stay here and stay hidden. Suki will want a full report." With that she dashed off, not waiting for a response.
