Sutton in MM
"Was the argument really that bad?" Julie asked as they fed the horses her parents had owned since she was a child. "It was so bad that when were lying in bed later that night the air around us was completely different. It's like our entire world shifted and is slowly beginning to suffocate." Sutton said as she laid her head on the stall door. "Why must the universe hate me so much?" She whined. "It's going to be okay love. I'm pretty sure you'll figure it out. You guys are just still wound up from everything. I mean your trip was a little extreme but that's strictly between us." Sutton chuckled. "You and Chance should really get together. I think it'll really work." Julie rolled her eyes. "And what can cowboy do for me all the way in Bama?" Julie asked sarcastically. "We're having the wedding in Bama." She said throwing hay at her before rounding the corner to answer the office phone. "Howard residence." She said into the phone. "Hey. I didn't know any other way to reach you. I tried your cell." She sighed. Speaking of the devil himself. "Yeah, me and Julie are helping dad today in the stables. I left my phone in the house. What's the matter?" She asked. She was on edge. He knew it. He could feel it. "I think we should talk about last night." He said calmly. She looked to see if anyone was around and took a seat on the desk. "Justin, I don't think that's a good idea." She told him with a sigh. "I was wrong Sutton and I know that." She looked out the window to see Bryan standing at the front of the stables talking to her father and feeding her horse Dove. "I'm sorry Justin. It's really not a good time. It's really busy right now. Can we do this before dinner?" She asked still looking out the window. "Yeah. That's fine. I'll see you then." She hung up the phone and made her way to the front stables. "Hey, daddy what's the matter with Dove?" She asked concerned, calmly rubbing her. She purposefully avoided Bryan's stare. "She was giving me hell getting the new shoes on so since Bryan was brought in fish over, he helped me and he's staying for dinner." Sutton instantly began to deal. "Excuse me? Justin is supposed to be coming to dinner." She reminded him. "Worried I'll scare him off?" Bryan challenged. "Not at all. Didn't think you cared so much." She fired back. He chuckled. "Believe me. I don't." He said looking her over. "Funny. You're poker face isn't as good as you'd like it to be. Nice try tho. See you at dinner Bryan." She says as she walks away leaving him there with Dove and her dad. The old man chuckled at his expression. "Fix your face son." He told him as he continued to brush Dove. "What just happened?" He asked at a loss for words. "I believe you just started a war with my daughter. By mistake." The old man began chuckling again. "She just makes me so mad." He says as he takes a seat on the fence. "She knows exactly what buttons to push and just the right nerve to piss me off." Her father shook his head. "Like you've done since you were kids. It would take all 3 of us to get her off you every time you'd gone and done something to piss her off." He laughed at the thought of his little girl tackling a boy bigger than her to the ground. "I only did it because I love her. Hell I still do. Always have, always will." Grant sighed deeply and turned to him. "I'm not saying I like ya, after my daughter went running for the hills because of you and hasn't returned in over 5, I highly dislike ya but you also brought her home. If it wasn't for them damn divorce papers ion think she ever would've came back until the wedding." Bryan quickly looked at him. "Wedding? What wedding?" He asked. Grant sighed and pressed his lips in a tight line. "She's getting married to Justin. In a couple weeks." Bryan felt like the wind was knocked out of him. "I know it's a lot to take in but what you wanted to hear but I think it's better to hear it from us than from town gossip. All I can say is if you love my baby, fight for her and be damn sure you win." Bryan nodded with a faint smile. "Oh Bryan and one more thing." Grant said stopping him. "Yes sir?" Bryan asked. "Make sure not to screw it up this time." Grant warned him. He chuckled. "That's a promise." He tipped his hat to him and retreated to the truck to go get cleaned up for dinner. He'd seen Sutton leave before he did, knowing it'd been to go pick up her boyfriend. Bryan pulled up in his yard to see Jace and Baxter sitting on the back of his pick up. "Man, where the hell have you been?" Jace asked as he hopped off the back of his pick up and walked over to him. "I was out at the Howard's putting shoes on Sutton's horse Dove." He replied. Jace shook his head with a chuckle. "Well before you go inside, I should warn you that Anna's in there and she's pissed." Bryan sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "What the hell man? You're supposed to be on my side." Jace simply shrugged at the matter. "What's she doing here?" He asked. "She wouldn't say anything besides she had a huge argument with Sutton." Jace knew this was a result of the two not making up for their past and it was coming back to bite them in the ass. "Are shitting me right now? I'm already getting shit from her but now I have to hear about this during dinner. She's gonna have my damn head Jace." He yelled. Jace chuckled. "Better deal with Anna first. By the way she was throwing plates earlier so be careful." Jace told him before climbing in the truck and speeding off. Bryan looked at Baxter. "Help me out buddy. Should I run or kick her out?" Baxter barked twice. "You would pick the latter. What happened to you being on my side?" He asked. Baxter looked at him and took a seat on the porch. "Right." Bryan sighed deeply and looked back at Baxter. "Are you insane or something?" he asked as soon as he walked in. "Excuse me?" She responded quickly. "You started a fight in town with Sutton. What the hell were you thinking Anna?" He asked annoyed. "I did nothing wrong. You give her so much praise. You're a real piece of work Bryan King. Ever since she's been in town you've become a completely different person. We've been dating for 6 months and you flipped instantly." He chuckled. "Dating? That's what having a few drinks and hooking up means these days? That's a new one on me." Anna threw the phone book, knocking him upside the head. "I hope you get what's coming to you." She said as she passed by him laying on the floor.
