Sutton drove into town to run errands per her mother. First stopping at the farmers market to drop off her preserves for sale. Then heading to the post office. "Sutton Howard. How've you been?" Mr. Garland asked from behind the counter. "I'm good. I thought you retired." He chuckled and shook his head. "You know I could never trust anybody else to run this place. Not even my own crazy son." She chuckled. She knew Travis wasn't the most dependable when it came to working for his father. It was plenty of days he would leave the office unattended to hang with them, which they happily participated in any act of illegal behavior together. She left the office to run right into Anna and Bryan hugged up, walking up the street. "Bryan King. You are just the cutest." Anna pipes, noticing Sutton before Bryan. He stops and hands her the keys. "Gone to the truck." Anna hesitantly took the keys and made her way towards the truck. Bryan gave Sutton his signature smirk. In his eyes she didn't have to do anything but wake up every morning and she was still the most beautiful girl in the world. "Thanks for the other day, and um. Sorry about the truck. I can pay for the mess." He chuckled. "Nervous?" She smiled sheepishly. "Look-" They said in unison. They both chuckled. "You go first." He told her. "Bryan, I'm not here to cause any problems. I hate the way things are between us." He rubbed the back of his head. "You know Sutton. The day you left, it was a pretty shitty one and me, being a typical jack ass believed that maybe you would return. I just want you happy." She smiled genuinely. "You too moon." He chuckled. "I have to go. But I'll see you around." She walked away and to her car trying to figure out what just happened. "Why are you smiling like you just had the best orgasm of your life and you didn't share the details?" She giggled as Leo leaned between the seats to get her attention. Sutton burst out laughing. "Oh how I so missed you guys. How did I ever survive this long without you?" Sutton had been home all of 3 days and after what happened that night Bryan brought her home she called and begged them to come out. "That my dear we will never know. Now back to the hot cowboy you were just talking to. Spill." Julie interrogated. "That was Bryan." They both gasped as she continued to drive through town. "The Bryan? As in ex you left behind Bryan?" Leo asked. Sutton sighed and ran a hand through her hair. "Pretty much." She replied hoping they'd drop the fatefully doomed subject. "Cowboy ass was hot!" Leo stated with a smirk as he leaned back into the seat. "Anyways. What is there to do in little Greenfield?" Julie asked. "Well, you guys are going with me to the annual Greenfield Moonlight Carnival." They looked at her as if she'd lost her mind. "It's like a miniature Coney Island." The both smiled widely. "Well, let the games begin." Julie stated as they pulled into Sutton's parents yard. "This is beautiful Sutton. How could you leave such a peaceful place?" She shrugged as her throat tightened at the memories that constantly play in her dreams. "Just needed a change." She said as she grabbed a couple of boxes and headed inside. Her parents were currently helping set up the carnival so they were home alone. She walked upstairs to show them where they'd be sleeping. "Leo, you in this room. Julie this one. The bathroom is here and I'm right across the hall. The rental car should be dropped off at any moment, that way it will be 2 cars here and no one becomes stranded." They nodded and went to freshen up. They all arrived downstairs, dressed and ready to head to the carnival. Sutton wore a white sheer lace shirt with ripped boyfriend jeans and paired it with grey round toe cowboy boots. Her hair was in perfect loose waterfall curls and her makeup was minimal but made her face look natural. The soft smoky eye made her hazel eyes pop and her full lips were painted in a pale nude pink. "Well when we go out we sure dress to impress." Leo said as he took in everyone's appearance. "Head turning is a major thing in this town so if you can get people talking then you're doing something right." Sutton said as they all piled up in the car. They pulled up to the carnival and it was on full swing. Before she climbed out of the car her phone began to ring signaling it to be Justin. "Boo!" She answered into the phone. He chuckled and smiled widely. "I miss you. When are you coming home?" Her heart melted at the thought of how hopeless he seemed without her. "Justin, did you lose your Ipod again?" He chuckled. "Bedroom drawer on your side, top to the left. The headphones you like so much is to the right of the same drawer." He sighed. "What would I do without you?" He smiled. "Continuously be lost." Julie tapped on her window, rushing her off the phone and she shooed them away. "When I get home I'm going to have you all to myself for an entire week." He smiled. "Sounds good to me. Sutton?" She smiled lovingly. "Yes Justin?" She heard shuffling. "Hurry home to me." She melted instantly and became even more determined to get Bryan to sign those papers and get back to New York. "I promise." They hung up and she climbed out of the silence of the car to be engulfed by laughter, screaming and cheerful music. She missed the tradition of her hometown. It took her a while to get adjusted to the change and fast pace of New York but her life was good there and she was happy. At least that's what she keeps telling herself.
