Going into their fifth week of searching for the unsub, they discovered that he was hacking security systems to break in. Garcia was flown out, and the team ended up moving hotels.
Luke and Garcia's rooms were on the third floor, while everyone else was on the second.
While waiting in the lobby, Spencer was able to pull Luke aside.
"Do you think I should ask Garcia to switch rooms?" Spencer whispered.
"I don't know if she'll make a big deal out of it. I'm sure she'd switch, but she'd probably question it."
Spencer ultimately decided not to ask her, and made his way to his room. As soon as he walked in, his phone buzzed.
Come see me? A text from Luke read.
Spencer didn't even bother answering the text, and rushed up to Luke's room.
"That was quick." Luke laughed, letting him in.
Spencer sat on the empty bed, as he had been doing each night they spent in Luke's room. Luke sat on his own bed.
"If I put on a documentary, will you explain anything I don't understand?" Luke asked.
"Of course." Spencer smiled.
Luke put on a documentary about humans adapting to nature, and made himself comfortable.
"Spencer?" he asked, staring at the ceiling.
"Yeah?"
"You can lay next to me, you know. If you want to."
Spencer did just that. It was awkward, as they were were laying over the covers and not touching.
They barely watched the documentary. Spencer started to explain something at the beginning, but went on a tangent.
"...so the idea of 'survival of the fittest' should actually be replaced by 'reproduction of the fittest' or 'differential selection'. It's actually-" Spencer rambled.
"You're beautiful." Luke said, almost inaudibly.
Spencer blushed and looked down.
"I'm sorry if that was too much."
"It wasn't." Spencer smiled. He hesitated for a moment, and then took Luke's hand in his.
Luke checked his phone, and let out a small sigh.
"It's midnight. Do you want to go to sleep?" he asked.
"We probably should." Spencer answered, reluctantly.
Luke walked Spencer to the door, and pressed his lips together.
"This was nice." Luke finally said.
"It always is."
"It is."
"Uh, hug?" Spencer blurted out.
Luke smiled, and wrapped his arms around the younger man.
"I'll see you tomorrow."
"Goodnight, Luke."
"Goodnight, Spencer."
The next day was seemingly unproductive. No new victim, no new evidence, nothing. The entire day, Spencer felt like his was going to explode.
Returning to the hotel once again, the team went their separate ways. Without even thinking, Spencer followed Luke and Garcia to the third floor.
"Reid?" Garcia asked, confused.
