It was now Wednesday and I had my first potions lesson and flying lesson today. They had changed my flying over with HoM. I sat at my vanity table and did my usual braided hairstyle before grabbing my bag and walking down to the common room. Astara slithered around my feet since she was currently too big for my small frame. She had doubled in length, but luckily she would no longer grow, meaning once I got taller I would be able to carry her around again.
I had found to ritual for becoming an animagus. Apparently, I had to hold a mandrake leaf in my mouth every day for an entire month. I had Bipsy sneak into the greenhouses last night and bring me back a few. I currently had one pressed to the roof of my mouth. I had found a spell to keep the leaf in place so I wouldn't have to worry about swallowing it while eating or choking on it when I was speaking. The rest of the spell was a little more complex so I would do that next year since I could do this part in advance.
It had become a routine for Draco to meet me at the bottom of the steps before heading to breakfast. The other Slytherins Would tilt their heads in respect to me as I walked past. They had also accepted Neville as an honorary member, something that the house was happy for as Neville helped them with herbology allowing a large majority of the 5th year to pass the class in time for their exams. I loved that my brother was getting along with my house.
"Good morning Draco" I linked my arm with his as Astara slithers up slightly to nudge his hand with her nose in greeting. Draco smiles down at Astara before rubbing the top of her head."Morning Ada. Are you still having breakfast with Nev today?" Draco questions as he starts guiding me to the great hall, my familiar following closely behind. "Yes, I promised him yesterday. You could join us"
"No thanks. I'm not sitting with those blasted Gryffindor's. Nev is the only one I can tolerate in that lot" That was true, the first few days Ron had come up to me a few times insisting that I was his friend and that I should have been put in Gryffindor. I made sure to inform him that I had never met him, therefore couldn't possibly be friends with him. I also made sure a few prefects from the other houses had heard our conversation. They now kept their eyes on me when they saw Ron nearby, waiting unless I needed their help. It was very sweet of them and I was happy that the houses were getting along more than they were before.
"The twins are okay as well and so is Seamus, when he isn't blowing something up," I say the last part of my statement quietly but Draco still hears me and chuckles, knowing I was correct. Just as we enter the Great hall I shake my head when I see Seamus already sitting with Neville. Soot covering his nose and forehead, his hair spiked up, and wand in hand. I say goodbye to Draco before going to sit with them.
I pull out my school wand and tap the tip of it to Seamus's nose. The mess instantly cleans and his hair falls back into place. "Morning boys. Already caused a mess I see" They both give me sheepish looks before we start eating. I felt like pulling a prank today, I was also feeling petty as usual so I decided to do something completely childish by placing a reverse whoopie cushion on Dumbledorks chair. He was already sat down meaning the moment he moved to stand up it would be set off. I smirk slightly as I look away from him and focus back on the boys.
Neville is cut out of his rant about Mandrakes when a parcel lands in front of him. Accius lands in front of me and I take the letter from his leg before feeding him a piece of bacon. I put the letter in my bag for later after I see the Gringotts crest. I gently stroke his feathers, he preens under my touch, as I watch Neville open his parcel. "It's a Remembrall from my Grandmother. She knows I forget things - this tells you if there's something you've forgotten to do. Look, you hold it tight like this and if it turns red - oh - you've forgotten something" The glass orb fills with scarlet smoke in his hands and he suddenly looks confused, trying to remember what he had forgotten. I look him up and down before giving him a fond smile.
"Nev, your tie." He looks down at my words and blushes slightly when he realises I was right. His embarrassment turns to a groan. "So many stairs" I giggle at him before I pull a spare tie out of my bag. "Here, keep it I have another" The moment his hand touches it changes from the forest green with silver stripes to a deep red with gold stripes. Accius jumps up onto my shoulder at this point at nuzzles his head into my cheek. Astara starts to get jealous of the attention so she finds a way to climb into my lap making me stroke her scales as well.
"Thank you" He gives me a hug, he pulls away just as Ron walks over to us Hermione next to him. Everyone falls silent, waiting to see what was going to happen. "Why is there a slimy snake at our table?" I was going to comment but Dumbledork picked the perfect moment to stand up. A loud fart noise filled the room, making everyone freeze before the first years burst into laughter. Everyone else followed suit. I couldn't help but join in when I look at Minnie's look of horror as she faces Dumbledork before subtly scooting away from him. Minnie is now officially my favourite in this entire school.
Dumbledork blushes and splutters trying to explain that it wasn't him. I watch as he turns to see what caused the noise, he picks up the cushion and holds it up for everyone to see. Minnie looks relieved while Dumbledork sends the twins a look. The boys simply shrug to let him know it wasn't them.
