I turn back around and face him with a triumphant smirk. "You're not going to stop me?" he finally asks after he was done spluttering, his voice filled with disbelief.
"No, I'm not going to stop you. In fact, I am going to help you, but you are going to have to change a few things first" I place my hands on my hips and raise an eyebrow at him.
"What changes?" I could tell that he was genuinely curious about what I was about to ask of him. "If I am to help you we are going to do it my way. But I am not going to do anything unless you agree to make the wizarding world a better place without harming anyone. That includes ending blood supremacy, it's only causing our downfall faster."
"Explain?" It was then that I felt I got a glimpse at the real Tom Riddle, not that man who had split his soul causing his insanity, but the boy who was hungry for more knowledge the boy who wanted to make a difference. The realisation gave me a pause before I snapped out of it and went on a rant.
"Pureblood supremacy is a lie. Magic blood is magic blood. There is no such thing as 'pure' blood, I mean if it wasn't for muggle blood the wizarding world would have died out centuries ago. and Muggle-borns are diluting magic, there bringing it back. Have you not noticed that. Take the Black family, for instance, decades ago the family was known for their Metamorphmagus ability then it stopped due to inbreeding. Then one Andromeda Black marries a muggle-born, they then had a daughter Nymphadora Tonks who just so happens to be a Metamorphmagus. Plus I have a theory that Muggle-borns are actually decedents from Squibs whose magic is finally returning after the effects of inbreeding die out within those bloodlines."
The whole time Tom listened and I mean actually listened without interrupting. I watch as his expression changed from confusion to understanding and disbelief as he realised I was correct. "Very well. You have intrigued me, young witch. Now tell me how will you put me back into my body?"
"I will bring your soul back to itself. Once I do that you will be returned to your formal glory" He stares at me for what feels like an eternity before responding "I agree to your terms. What do I have to do?"
"I need you to have Lucius give your Diary to Ginny Weasley before school starts next year. I'll handle the rest." I smirk at him. He nods and bids me farewell before leaving Quirrell's body. I jump back in shock when his body collapses in a heap. After a moment I realise he isn't breathing and briefly wonder how long he had been dead.
I snap out of my thoughts when I feel the presence of someone else's magic. I quickly spell myself to make it look as if I had been put under the Cruciatus curse. Small cuts form on random parts of my body and blood begins to bloom on my clothes. I bite my tongue to stop myself from screaming out in pain. I take a deep breath and use another spell to make me go unconscious. I fall to the ground near Quirrell as my vision begins to blur. I see a black figure rush over to me, once they are close enough I see who it is. "Dad?"
"I'm here, little snake. You're okay. I'm going to get you out of here okay?" I can hear that his voice was thicker than normal like he was about to cry. He picks me up from the ground and I can't stop the yell of pain that fills me. "I'm so sorry. I can't lose you too. Stay with me."
I try to stay awake for his benefit but the spell had already taken effect and my body gave in. I hear him yelling at me while my head lulls onto his shoulder.
When I do finally wake up I squint my eyes at the harsh light flooding in from the windows. I feel pressure in my hand and I automatically tighten my grip. I hear someone gasp and the pressure in my hand tightens. "Snakeling?"
I turn my head to the side and smile when I see my dad standing over me, his hand in mine. "Papa. What happened?"
"I was hoping you could tell me. I found you almost half dead. You lost so much blood. Madam Pomfrey wasn't sure you would wake up. What's the last thing remember?" I push my hair back as I think over the story I had created.
I was on my way back to the dorms, someone hit me with a spell. I woke up in a room with a mirror. Professor Quirrell was there he wanted me to do something but I couldn't. He got really mad and then you showed up." I feel my eyes sting with tears as I look up at him with a pained look. My whole body felt stiff as if I had worked out too hard.
Before he could say anything Poppy came barrelling in. "Thank Merlin you are awake dear. Gave us all quite the fright. Here now drink this. It's to replenish some more of your blood, I even mixed in some pain relief for you dear. Don't want you in any pain now do we? Especially after everything." I smile at her rambling and take the potion from her as she talks, I sit up enough to drink it before shifting back on the bed.
Dad notices what I'm trying to do and moves the pillows so I could sit up comfortably. I see the over-bed table was overflowing with sweets and flowers. There was also a whole bunch that had been moved onto the floor out of reach. Dad follows my gaze and I look at him questioningly, he just glared at them in reply and I knew they were all spelled. Ever since Christmas dad had been even more protective and now did regular checks for charms on practically everything.
Especially at dinner times. It had now become a tradition of sorts for him to check the food first before me or anyone else could eat. Each one of us would wait for him to give us the all-clear before filling our plates. Thankfully no one seemed to notice the pause at our table after the food arrived.
"My girl. It is nice to see you are okay" my mood turns bitter at the voice and I see dad tense up as he takes a step closer and tightens his hold on my hand. Poppy is unaware of the now tense atmosphere and goes off to get me some water.
"Thank you, Professor. What happened to Professor Quirrell?" I paly with a loose thread on the blanket, avoiding his gaze as I knew my mental shield was still weak from before.
"You don't need to worry about him, my child. Focus on your healing"
"Headmaster I would prefer if you didn't call my daughter with such familiarity" I smile at dad I move over slightly so I can lean on him. He places a kiss on the top of my head and starts to play with my hair as he looks back at Dumbledork. "My daughter needs to rest."
He was about to protest when Poppy comes back in and hands me a goblet of water. "Drink up now dear. and you out, go on shoo." I smirk in amusement as Poppy nudges Albus out of the room. She knew that there was no way Dad was leaving so she left him be.
I drained the last of my water and Dad takes the goblet from me. "You have been healing for the last two days. You need to rest, it has taken a toll on your body"
"I will, How is Astara and Bipsy and Chip. What about Accius and Draco and..." He stops me with a fond smile "Everyone is fine. They were all worried about you. After you sleep I will let them know that you are okay."
He kisses my forehead and I lay down. After only a few moments I fall asleep. My hand still in his.
