"Archduchess welcome! take a seat!"

so this is the empress...but why call so casually?

"i believe this is our first time meeting, your majesty" i said taking a seat across the table, 

what a pleasant view, the table was decorated with such luxuries, even at the Duke's household, i had never received such delicacies.

what are you scheming empress?

"is it? well i was hoping that you and i could be friends Duchess!"

why so suddenly, i was engulfed in a sudden feeling of uneasiness, 

After all i never liked her.

"it would be an honor to be considered as such by the empress" in all sincerity,

 i am disgusted.

but she never noticed, i guess I'm a good actress

"lets share a cup of tea, as regards to our new friendship!" she smiled lightly, as if pleased by the situation.

Is this the empress? how deceiving, to think that Ruvelis would choose someone like her at his side, ha!, i preferred lady monique much more,

"oh by the way, my condolences Duchess, i heard about your current state, to think that the Castillos would end up like this" her voice was innocent yet i had a feeling she knew what she was doing, 

the maids snickered,

you are mocking me!

the hold on my cup pressed, did she invite me to humiliate me infront of these servants, how dare she! looking down on the Castillos!

but i knew better than add oil in a burning fire,

"thank you for your concern, your majesty" 

stay calm and collected, that's how Lila taught me to behave, i took a sip of my tea wa-

"AHHHHHH!!!!" 

Jieun dropped her cup, she started coughing out red liquid

blood!

" call the imperial doctor!" one of the maids shouted,

i sat there, watching Jieun struggle with her sudden state, slightly surprised,

"the empress was poisoned!" another maid shouted

what!? 

i never moved from my seat, i still held the cup of tea in my hands. still wore the surprised look on my face. Even when the emperor made his appearance. I remained neutral. the only difference this time was,

my heart started beating fearlessly when I looked at Ruvellis.

"what happened here?" his face had changed, he looked angry

my heart ached, do you really love this woman, emperor?

his gaze had caught mine, my face heated as he took a step forward. my heart was still beating ferociously

"did you do this archduchess?" he asked, his voice was somewhat gentle, but still had a danger warning

"i-i didn't your majesty!" I stuttered, for the first time in my life, i stuttered

he leaned closer, cupping my face in his hand, inches apart from his, 

"...i heard that the lady has a liking to me" he smirked

my heart beating even faster, if that was even possible, i could tell just by his smirk that my face had became a dense shade of red

"did you perhaps think you'd become empress by killing Jieun" his face tightened, his grip got stronger and i felt my hands tremble together with the cup i was still holding

"h-how c-could i-i y-your m-maj-jesty" I was scared, scared out of my wits,

"then care to explain the situation" his brows furrowed as he asked, cleary angered and annoyed by the blonde haired lady in-front of him,

" i-i h-have no idea-a, y-your m-majesty!"

"then you imply that the empress poisoned herself archduchess?"

That's absurd! i never... wait!

"the maid! the maid who brew the tea for the lady!"

he clicked his tongue, extended his arms then threw me on the floor, the sound of the breaking tea cup could be heard from the impact

"take her, she will be executed in three days for attempting to kill the empress" he announced, i was shocked

"but your majesty there's no proof how could you!"

if only i had kept my mouth shut, maybe i wouldn't have received the slap he gave me that time, rather than feeling anguish, my heart ached, i hated this, having feelings for such a person, who so unjustly threw me to the dungeon, i despised myself for this.

it has already been a day, the bread is hard to chew, my skin looks paler, and my hair has been cut, the hair that Lila took so good care of brushing each morning, was cut by a rusted sword, i never felt my eyes wet before, 

what is this feeling?

the sound of footsteps echoed in the hallway, I hastily stood on my knees, still weak from hunger,

my savior?

did the prince come back to his senses? if so, then he believes me! 

impatient, i was so impatient waiting to see the face of my savior, if i get out then i promise t-

"what a surprise to see you here, Lady Estelle" an old man's voice, a face that i've seen only years ago.
