"gone and clean yourself up," quez said as he flexed his knuckles and shook his a hand as he left the bedroom.

honey sat in the corner of the room, her face swollen from the beating she had endured. slowly, she picked herself up and walked to the bathroom. cutting on the lights only made her want to cut them off as she saw her appearance. 

her smooth glazed complexion was now dull and full of violet and indigo hues. her lips had grown in size and her doll like eyes had been blackened, well one of them at least.

she used peroxide and some alcohol to clean her bruises before applying some ointment which soothed the burning and stinging sensation.

"mama where daddy go?" dakari asked as her small feet carried her to the bathroom.

"he'll be back soon, baby." honey told her as she put the first aid kit away.

"you okay, mama?" the innocence of child is what we all wished to keep forever, mainly because we never really wished to understand the true hardships of adulthood.

"yeah i'm okay, come on you supposed ta be in bed." honey hoisted dakari on her hip and carried her back to her room.

"but i couldn't sleep." dakari mumbled as her eyes wondered all over her mother's face, "why daddy hit you mama?"

honey's eyes glistened at her daughters words, but she never allowed the tears escape. she couldn't even form words to speak or give her proper response because she wasn't too sure herself as to why quez would put his hands on her.

"i don't know, but um mama's okay." honey said as her voice sounded strained.

"i make it better," dakari wrapped her small around honey's neck and her small lips placed two kisses to honey's cheek, "see mama, all better!"

honey nodded as a small smile appeared to her lips, "yeah, all better."

"okay i sleep now, love you."

"i love you more kari."
