Once upon a time, he'd even thought it to be the warrior Sif, silently hoping it was, but it wasn't; it never had been, nor would it ever be. Whoever his fated was, they were stars or eons away and Thor vowed he would do everything in his power to find them.
The crown prince of Asgard was hardly ever one to break a vow. However, all his trips and visits to other realms to fulfill said promise had turned up flat. Naturally, the royal played his disappointment off to his friends — affectionately known as The Warriors Three — as though he didn't care about meeting his forever love. He was a strong manly man who had vixens ready and waiting, but his family knew better; they always had.
Behind his laddish facade, he was a hopeless romantic with a soft heart, but even devoted men couldn't wait forever. After a while, Thor began to give up on finding his soulmate and gave in to virile urges. A drunk; a manwhore; an egotistical ball of toxic masculinity — all words to describe what the god had become.
It wasn't until he was cast out from his home, sentenced to exile among the mortals of Midgard, that pipe-dreams resurfaced once more — literally, given his soulmate's connected sensitivity.
How long he'd been sleeping, he wasn't sure, but he could only wish to slumber for eternity if it meant seeing the leggy female again. Her hair in curls, wild and free, and her smile contagious; beautiful and shining. The crown prince of Asgard was smitten without regret or hesitation.
Of course, Era didn't realize what was happening. After all, in her dream, the buff towhead wore his Asgardian armor complete with its billowing crimson cape. His blonde hair was tied back and his speech was proper, almost as if he was from another time. The college student been home ill that day, sleeping away a nasty cold, so her mind was sure he was only a fever dream even though a nagging feeling in the pit of her stomach told her otherwise.
Sadly, fantasy couldn't last forever, and sleep eventually had to end. Thor went on to save both a desert town in Midgard as well as his home of Asgard while Era healed from her ailment the next day. That didn't alter or lessen his joy at finally having seen the love of his life.
As soon as his feet hit his homeworld, he renewed his vow to find her and claim what fate had dictated as his, but the loss of the rainbow bridge — his only way back to Midgard and his soulmate — left him stranded. Still, the elder Odinson had his romantic persona restored. With her on his mind, he was driven, the taste of happily ever after so thick on his tongue yet so far away.

━ this blurb takes place heavily in 2010. though it's not made 100% clear, thor and era's sensitivity is the ability to see each other in their dreams. this is not trans-planetary and thor can only see her if he's on earth and vice versa.
━ though jane and solveig try to open a wormhole to see thor in 2011, i am overriding that. aka, it never happened in this ff/au.
━ era is 19 during this blurb.
━ there is also currently voting on the recasting of clint barton on my profile page (in the conversations area)! feel free to add your vote :)
━ this novel is currently undergoing reformatting and should look better by the time the next blurb is published. please excuse the mess until then!
