TRIGGER WARNING – ADDICTION & MINOR SWEARING
ESTELLA MARIE STARK
Estella's childhood was unlike most, and that is what you would expect after being born into a world of fortune and success. She was not quite literally born into the luxury of her father's fortunes; she was actually born in the back of her mother's drug dealer's car after her water had broken mid-deal. You see, Estella was the unfortunate product of a one night stand between a drunk billionaire and a well-hidden junkie. It was not the ideal situation, with Tony only being young and not ready in the slightest to raise a child, but he did, nonetheless. He fought in numerous custody battles after learning about the drug addiction with her mother, Trudy, and being the man he was, he won. Trudy soon signed her parental rights shortly after the court battle, and that day was the last that Estella was ever held by her mother.
Maybe she was lucky that she had never been exposed to the life of her drug-addicted mother, and maybe she was lucky that she had not been affected physically as a baby. It never stopped haunting her as to why her mother signed away her rights to be a parent so fast, but maybe she never wanted to find out. Estella was matured enough now to understand that what her biological mother had done was extremely selfless, and it would have taken her plenty of thought to come to such a decision after numerous court battles to keep her child. Besides, she was forever grateful that she was able to live the life she was given with her father.
Estella and Tony were as close as fathers and daughters could be. During the day for twelve years, she was raised and looked after by the best nannies her father could find in the United States of America. Most nights, if her father were not invited to parties or important events he needed to attend, he would find his way back home and he would always read her bedtime stories. She would giggle in her soft and fluffy bed as her father would critique the children's book on the logic of it, a small smile forming on his lips at the sound of his daughter's laugh. He would kiss her goodnight, and that repeated for twelve years, until the Avengers were formed.
This was not necessarily a bad thing; there was nothing more that Estella loved than to brag to her friends at school that her dad was one of the heroes saving the world, on top of being a genius billionaire. She might not have had her dad tucking her in at night (she did not mind the lack of bedtime stories now, being almost thirteen-years-old), but now, she had several other people to tuck her in if she really needed it. They were never going to replace her dad, but they were always there for her when Tony could not. Natasha made sure she was ready for school in the morning, gently brushing through her short hair and driving her to school that same morning. When Thor was around, he would sit her down and go on for hours about Asgard and his people, which never ceased to amaze her. Bruce would sit down with her and awkwardly help her do her homework (most times he would just give up and do it for her) and whenever Clint was there, he would always kick back and binge-watch movies with her.
But Steve? He was by far her favourite, with Natasha coming in at a close second. Steve was like her youthful-looking grandpa, and she loved spending time with him the most. Whenever she could not sleep, or she was stuck with a history assignment at school, he was there telling her stories about his life before the ice. Her favourite stories were about his friend Bucky, they were always funny and intriguing, and it looked like Steve loved telling those stories the most. It seemed like Steve missed him, and the stories he told even made Estella herself miss Bucky, a man whom she had never met before. She admired both; Steve and his buddy Bucky, until all went to shit.
