Chapter 10

School holidays are coming up fast and it's almost Christmas. I'm running late in rent and school fees and I don't know what to get Arli for Christmas.

I'm so stressed.

When I hear Arliyah walk in from school I ask her how her day was. And she tells me all about it as usual.

But it's not until we are eating our dinner that she asks a question that shocks me.

"Mum do I have a grandma and grandpa?"

"Umm ... Why sweetie?" Not really knowing what to say.

"Because all my friends are having big Christmases with all their family and it's only ever me and you."

I stare at her. Tears spring to my eyes and I put down my fork and knife.

"It funny you ask me this because guess what!" I squeak at her the tears making my voice croaky.

"What?!" She asks getting excited.

"We are gonna go meet our whole family for Christmas!"

The last week we spend packing our bags and getting ready for the cold weather over there.

Arli's super excited while on the other hand im shitting myself. I Havnt seen my family in 9 nearly 10 years. What if they hate me? I bet they do.

3 days before Christmas is when we fly out. Arli sleeps the whole plane ride and when we land in Seattle we collect our bags and call for a taxi.

"Mummy why are you scared?"

"I'm not scared why would you think that?" I ask her a little taken aback.

"Because I can hear your thoughts and I know your scared..."

What? Did she just say she can hear my thoughts?!

"Yes momma I heard that too" she giggles.

"Wait can you do anything else?"

"I can make people do things without them wanting to"

"Wait?! Why Havnt you ever told me this!"

"Coz I thought it was weird so I kept it to myself..." She trails off. She dosnt know me and my family's secret because I just assumed she'd be human. Obviously not.

"Sweetie that not weird at all! Wanna see my power ?" At first she's confused about why I don't think she's weird but then gets over it and nods her head smiling like an idiot.

I reach over to touch her face. She doesn't move. As I touch her cheek I think of all the memories of my family and then I explain to her that we are all vampire including herself and explain everything to her through my thoughts.

She stares in shock till it's over.

"Do it again!!" I laugh and her craziness but nonetheless I show her all the memories of her from when she was little till now.

We eventually get a taxi and start our journey to forks.

The whole car ride I'm crapping myself. Arli feel asleep about 10 minutes in so it just me, my thoughts and the driver. The driver dosen't speak to me at all.

As I see the sign 'forks' I start to panic. What do I say. How do I tell them about Arli.

Throughout the nine years I've learned how to control my ability and I've gained other including shielding myself which I must have picked up from my mother. I tell the taxi driver to drop us at the motel we are staying in for tonight just so we can sleep and the get ready to meet everyone in the morning.

That night I don't get much sleep. Arliyah's up and early and getting ready for today. We had a car dropped off last night so we have a car we can use while we are here.

Around 10.00 o'clock we are getting in the car to leave.

"Mum are you scared?"

"Yes but it's okay. Are you?"

"No. I'm just scared they won't like me." She states.

"Daring they'll love you! Trust me okay"

"Okay mum"

when we arive at the edge of the forest i park my car and block both of our minds remembering my dads power. 

as we get closer the house gets clearer and clearer. im not sure if alice saw us coming but if she did they dont know who it is because otherwise they would be out here. 

we are about 50 metres from the house now and if we walk just a little bit further they'll be able to smell us. i pause and take a breath. 

"you alright mummy?" alri wispers. i nod in return. 

i take one last breath before wakling that little bit extra. 

"renesmee...."
