MASIXOLE NGQOTYENI
We went to the charity event, both in our golf gear. Well, we had to organize her gear on the way to the event because she didn't bring many clothes over. I already had suitable gear because it wasn't my first time on the golf course. We saw Larissa and Yolenda after thirty minutes of mingling with the organizers, I already wanted to leave but Sibo shunned me down. She seemed to have been enjoying herself, which was kind of weird because she didn't strike me as a woman who would enjoy a day on the golf course.
"Mr. N," she waved making her way to us. I smiled, taking Sibo's hand and walking towards meeting the ladies halfway.
"You made it," she excitedly hugged me, I felt my babe's hand slipping off mine and I knew I could be in trouble later on. Yolenda cleared her throat and Larissa got off the hug and looked at my partner smiling, that weird smile that white people would give to black in passing at the shopping mall.
"Oh, I didn't know you'd bring a partner," she said, extending her hand for a shake while looking at me.
"I didn't even know I would be coming, please meet my girlfriend, Sibongile"
"Nice to meet you, ma'am, I'm Larisa his PA and this is Yolenda, my friend and colleague," Sibo just shook their hands in silence.
Yolenda started asking if I had met with the organizers and that they were invited for lunch and drinks after the charity event, she wanted to know if we were also going and I knew even if I wanted to go, seyimoshakele. It wasn't going to work out.
"It was nice meeting you Sibo, hope we see you again," Yolenda extended her hand to my partner.
"Likewise Yolenda," and that was the end of it.
I took her hand and we walked over to Glen and her team, we said our goodbyes and headed to our car. She was awfully quiet, and I didn't know how to justify a hug, because that's where the whole thing came from. That hug from Larissa.
"Where do you want to eat?" I tried breaking the silence.
"Anywhere," was the response I got,"
"And then where's anywhere apha around baby?"
"Masi please, just go anywhere apho kukho ukutya khona torho,"
I drove home, there was food mos endlini.
Just after, I parked she got out of the car and walked ahead of me. I followed, with her bag and decided to return Undi's call while his mother was sulking on the other couch. I called Junior, he said he wasn't home I should call Sim and so I did,
Sim: Hi bhuti,
Me: Hey, unjani?
Sim: I'm okay bhuti unjani wena?
Me: I'm okay too, I'm looking for Undi.Sim: Yho ukufounele umama?
She asked laughing,
Me: Ey mfondini, and I promised I'd call him kwayizolo inoba uqumbile ngoku.
She went to call Undi and then the phone exchanged hands.
Undi: Hello Daddy?
Me: Hey big boy, unjani?
Undi: I'd be better if you came to fetch me...Me: You'd be better, kanti awukho right?
Undi: I am fine, I want to go to the beach umama akakho and grandad said he's busy.Sim: Hay Undi, grandad said he'll take us ngomso.
Undi: Exactly what I said nje, he's busy today.
Sim just laughed at him, I promised I'd take him to the beach the following weekend because I was "stuck in the office working" and he understood. Once that call was done, I left Sibo and went to chill in my room. Andimazi mna umntu omdala oqumbele ihug uthwani.
