-Masixole Ngqotyana-
I opened the car for her, we both got in, and then she bawled.
I tried to calm her down, but she begged me to take her home and so that's what I did. I drove back to the house, luckily, her aunts were not there. She went straight to her room, while I ordered dinner because besingekatyi. Once the food came, and after I calculated the time I had given her to calm down, I went to her room. She was curled up under the covers. I uncovered her as I sat down, she got up, with her back against the wall, and blew her nose before looking at her hands.
Me: Are you okay?
She nodded...
Me: Do you want us to talk?
She nodded again.
Me: Okay, first things first... Sibongile has no problem with you moving here. I am not sure which part of our conversation you heard, but, she has a problem with my communication regarding the matter.
Kamva: Could have fooled me.
Me: Secondly, never do that again. We were talking on the patio because we wanted privacy. You could have at least announced your presence BEFORE umamele ukuba sithetha ngantoni or ngabani. Abantwana will always remain abantwana mntanam, and that means in the future, respect i-privacy yabantu abadala noba ayisithi. Abantu nje abadala in general.
Kamva: But dad... she doesn't want me here, umvile nawe. This has nothing to do with communication or privacy whatnots. She just doesn't want me here qha... I'd rather go back home where I know I am loved than force myself into your life with your fiancé.
Me: You're not forcing yourself anywhere Kamva.
Kamva: Dad, I understand that you love her so I will not even try to make you see her for what she really is.
Me: Andiyithandi indlela othetha ngayo.
Kamva: If she wanted me here why wasn't she the one running after me? Why hasn't she called oko simkile kwakhe? Don't you see? She hates me!
Me: She didn't run after you because she doesn't know you like I said esibhedlele you both don't know each other. Assumptions are not going to take us anywh-
Kamva: So uyamthethelela tata?
I sighed...
Never thought I'd have to choose between my daughter and my woman.
Me: Ndizokuyeka ke mntanam namhlanje because you're hurting. But, when you're sure you're calm enough for us to have a rational conversation... we will talk again. For now, please come and eat your dinner.
She nodded, sniffing.
I kissed her forehead and walked out.
I didn't know whether to call Sibongile or call umama and tell her what had happened, because I knew Kamva was going to call her anyway. I just wanted to tell her first, kungathwa I'm already choosing a woman over my own blood. Just as I was dialing my mother, Sibongile called.
Me: Baby?
Sibo: I'm so sorry...
Me: Don't stress, she'll come around.
Sibo: Can I talk to her, please?
I sighed...
Sibo: Please baby torho.
Me: She's upset right now, maybe call ngomso? Or, I'll bring her around ngomso?
Sibo: Okay... good night.
