James.

Bucky.

THE NAME rings in her head. His photo, alongside hers gracing the screen. She can't focus on her own apparent involvement, the only thing on her mind is the man she escaped HYDRA with.

And she can't help feel excited at the thought of seeing him again.

That and... admittedly angry. She plans to sock him in the jaw as soon as she sees him.

"Elena," Steve finally barks, grasping her shoulder.

She breaks out of her trance, glancing down to the card in her hand. "I guess this means the deal is off," she murmurs teasingly.

However, the two men don't share her humour. "Don't look at me," she snaps, "I was here."

Steve rolls his eyes, Sam smirks. She stands up suddenly. "Let's go."

"You're not going anywhere, you're a wanted criminal."

"And you're harbouring one. So let's move."

>>^^<<^^>>

Elena swallows the end of a croissant, sitting beside Sam, their caps pulled low over their eyes. El's sunglasses are pushed up the bridge of her nose.

She had taken her sling off, deciding she can't fight with it. Thankfully, her shoulder felt better, still aching, but it's the least of her worries.

Her thoughts wander to her dog who she left in the apartment. She can't help but worry about him.

"Five bucks says she tells him to stay out of it."

"Dude, I don't have any money. You know that right?"

Sam shrugs, glancing over to where Steve holds the phone up to his ear. El sighs, brushing her hands together. "She'd be an idiot if she didn't."

On cue, Steve returns to the table. "She alright?" El can't help but ask.

He nods. Sam shifts to face him. "She tell you to stay out of it? Might have a point."

"He'd do it for me," his eyes flicker to El behind his glasses. "For both of us."

"1945 maybe. I just want to make sure we've considered all our options. The people that shoot at you usually wind up shooting at me."

The girl straightens. "I was with him after we got out. He's not the Winter Soldier anymore."

Sharon steps up beside them. She looks to the teen. "This is all levels of stupid. She should be hiding in a wardrobe in Scotland."

"She can blow up stuff with her hands. I'll live," she counters bitterly. She doesn't know if she believes that, but this is her chance to find Bucky. She won't lose that.
